The filet minion was done perfectly. The Flash fried ostiaries were a nice appetizer.
Outstanding atmosphere, excellent live jazz, creative and tasty food, and very attentive staff. Our go-to for romantic dinners.
Valentines Day was a joy at LaPorta's. The food was original and excellently prepared. The service was very personable -- almost a family atmosphere -- and very responsive. LaPorta's also has a jazz band playing that is perfect in volume and pace. Probably the best experience we've had in many years. Well done!
Once you start eating, you won’t totally regret your decision.
Dislikes:
-For desert we had a trio that included a red velvet cupcake, fruit tartlet, and mini cheesecake. It was dry and boring. Plating wasn’t really thoughtful either. Ive had better from the grocery store bakery.
-Paper hearts in the windows and walls made me feel like I was in a school cafeteria
-Decor is dated. Tables and chairs are pretty scuffed up yand the upholstery is kind of dirty looking. Feels like an old hotel conference room.
-You can’t identify the staff from the guests. At first I thought a random man walked up to our table to talk to us, which made for an awkward pause. He had on blue jeans and a striped sweater.
-They give you 3 or 4 different paper menus which makes your table chaotic.
-They have huge fresh bouquets of flowers but they didn’t think to separate the bouquets and put them on each table. Instead, they put giant tall bouquets on the tables you’re not allowed to sit at. I thought that was weird. Even if I had one pretty Rose in a vase I would have been happy.

-The baked bread basket was yummy. Especially the biscuits and pumpkin bread.
-Starter was a big shared salad and crab dip. Wow! You get tons of crab meat and it doesn’t taste like your typical Old Bay crab dip. It tastes better. It had a freshness to it and the almond slices were a nice touch. I could have licked the bowl.
-For our entree we had French toast and Steak and Eggs. The French toast is thick and fluffy and has a nutty crunch on the outside. The fruit is well balanced.
-Steak was cooked perfectly and the Hollandaise was flavorful. They give you a large helping of fluffy eggs and seasoned potatoes.
-The live music wasn’t to loud but loud enough that people can’t hear you having a conversation at the next table. I really loved the live pianist and the vibe it brought into the space.
-The restroom is clean and simple
Great food, the service was amazing and loved the live jazz music.
Great meal-- pork chop was delicous as well as the crab dip and salad. The live music was a bonus-- and made for a lovely evening. Thank you.
Food is delicious and service is very good.
I enjoyed my visit, service was great, food was great and most of all thr ambience was perfect. I also enjoyed live entertainment.
Excellent food, had the Restaurant Week menu. It was disturbing that our waiters mask was continually below his nose when he would come to our table.
It made us extremely uncomfortable.
The service and entertainment were overwhelming, not to mention the food. Couldn't have had a better night
Great service and great food.
Virginia Restaurant week: a friend and I decided to have lunch out. It was a very good lunch for the price! We enjoyed all three courses of our lunch. Ian was friendly and attentive. There were not too many tables filled in the dining room due to COVID guidelines. I ordered the Tutte Mare which was excellent. Since I worry about sand in clam shells(not that theirs would have any), Ian mentioned they also had chopped clams to use in my dish if I preferred. I took him up on his offer and it did not change the flavor of my meal. The shrimp was delicious as well. Dessert was wonderful. I had the Tiramisu which was delicious! The dining room tables for lunch had no tablecloths. The tables not used for lunch did. Maybe they were the dinner? Not sure but having a tablecloth would have been nice.
The wine tasting/pairing is my favorite date night in town! The customer service is absolutely top notch and the food has no competition. Every dish, even the small paired plates, are elevated and five star. Love, love these innovative wine tastings!
Lovely restaurant week meal, at an Old Town Alexandria place we had not been to in a while. Great food, good service! Thanks.
Excellent food well prepared and presented
Laporta’s never disappoints! The food is always delicious and prepared perfectly. The service is superior.
One of our favorite restaurants... never disappoints!!
Food was great and service was amazing!
Great service. Good music. Good bartenders. Not crazy about the menu. But it wasn't bad. Just wish it was more offerings. Normal American fare.
Our server was outstanding. He was very friendly, very attentive and helpful with suggestions. I am sorry I forgot his name. (He knew where Bristow was located because of friends). My dessert the apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream was so delicious and so glad to see the size of it. Most dessert sizes are getting so small you can't even share anymore. But this apple cobble was a big size and I wouldn't have wanted to share it because it was so good.
Great restaurant and food. They have live music most nights that’s why I rated as not totally quiet but it’s a great experience.
Fabulous service, amazing food, will definitely return!
Wonderful place, great atmosphere and outstanding food!
My wife and I enjoyed our 42nd anniversary ar Laporta’s restaurant. We were impressed over and over again at the restaurant. The olive bread to start our meal was scrumptious. My wife ordered the trout. I ordered the Stuffed imperial flounder. It was broailed, lightly breaded, served over asparagus with a delicious sauce dotted with canapés and covered in crabmeat. It was served together with a mound of rice stuffed with brie. My wife’s plate was beautiful as well, but I was too invested in my dinner to pay attention to her trout. We also thoroughly enjoyed the warm cinnamon carrot cake served on a raspberry sauce topped with whipped cream and berries. I have not enjoyed a meal in Alexandria as much as this feast. The food is so good, you don’t care what the prices are. Additionally, this establishment has live music every night (currently behind plastic barriers). The jazz combo and singer played and sang American standards that were just perfect for a romantic evening. I would rate this place a 10 if only there were more circles. Thank you for a memorable night.
I celebrated my anniversary at Laporta’s Restaurant. It was perfect!!! The food was amazing. I will definitely be back.
The french toast was incredible! Really nice to experience a new way to have this!
Very good place for a date night w/ the smooth sound of jazz in the background.
Great food!
Covid protocols were excellent
The food and drinks were outstanding as usual. Thank you Maile for the great service.
We had a wonderful, safe, and pleasant experience at Laporta. It was our first time dining there and we would definitely recommend it to a friend anytime. The homemade dessert was great!
This was our first visit and was great... the room is pretty, the waiter was very positive and knowledgeable. Our dinners were really tasty. We’ll definitely be back. The live piano was a treat.
The Thanksgiving dinner was outstanding. Just like being at home as i remember it. could not travel this year so i was so glad i went to LaPorta’s. The food and service was outstanding.
Great food, attentive service, and live jazz. What more could you ask for?
Cuisine quite good; pianist very good!
Great service! The food was great but no BBQ sauce on steak!
Always a pleasurable dining experience. Ate outside on patio. They have some outdoor heaters but still a bit chilly. It was good to see Frankie again and catch up. He is our favorite waiter but all the staff is excellent.
We had a great experience at Laporta’s. It was our second visit, and the music and food were just as outstanding as we remembered. The service was excellent, and the live music trio was at just the right level that we could enjoy the sounds and also have a conversation without shouting. Can’t wait to return.
We've been hesitant to have Italian food since moving back from Europe 3 years ago...LaPorta did not disappoint! Fantastic value for the Monday-Tuesday night specials. Only "complaint" is that I was brought the wrong cheesecake (espresso instead of pumpkin-chocolate, but it was dark at our table and hard to tell what color it was); it was delicious anyway. We're planning to have a once-a-month date night there for the foreseeable future.
Entertainment was appreciated. Service couldn't have been any better.
