Live jazz was an unexpected treat
Superb as always. Live music is a treat
Valentine’s Day celebration, nice. Good food a bit expensive but would recommend. Bar next to dining area.
The food was some of the best we have had since living here in the DMV. The Chefs are extremely gifted, classy, and it shows in their presentation, from the appetizers, the sauces, each bite of the entrees, and even the pairings of the wines with meals and deserts to die with and for.
Forced to eat valentines menu, which wasn’t even good. Selection was ridiculous. Squeezed in a table. Wine glasses were amateur for such a restaurant. You get an appropriate vino glass only if you order a bottle. The fact they charged $15 a head for entertainment that would be normally free if you came on regular nights was crazy. Mark up was unreal and we will never come back where we truly enjoyed Sharon Clark band and regular menu. Shame on the management for taking advantage due to Valentine’s Day.
It is always great at LaPortas
Great experience! Everybody involved with our night was perfect.
Welcome lunch for a new staff member.
Came for a nice Sunday lunch. Was not disappointed. Service was excellent. Help me forget that I was fighting a horrible head cold.
Excellent food. We shared pork belly and mushroom toasts appetizers which were delicious. The steaks are always very good; the special of monkfish with a jalapeno pasta was very inventive and excellent combination. The service is always good and the accompanying singing of Sharon Clark made it a wonderful pre Valentines evening.
I periodically organize business dinners for groups of 25 or so. It is really difficult to find a restaurant that does not require a contract and will allow for some last minute flexibility with the group size. Laporta really fit the bill. I reserved 3 tables for 3 groups of 8. I spoke with a restaurant employee who sat us close together and allowed for a staggered arrival. The restaurant staff were extremely accomodating--they even allowed separate checks. The food was delicious, and there was live jazz music which really added to the evening. The waitstaff were exceptional. The next day I heard many complements about the evening. I highly recommend this as a lovely casual evening out.
The restaurant week menu was an excellent value and LaPorta offered their full menu. The food was very good, but the service was slow. Soup and salads came out promptly and then we waited 45 minutes to receive our entrees. Interestingly it came out within a minute or two of my asking our server about it.
Restaurant Week at Laporta's was definitely memorable! We were able to mix and match our salad, entree and dessert from the entire menu. The servers clearly explained the menu and daily specials, suggested appropriate wine selections, and kindly answered all of our queries. The food was plated beautifully and appealed to the varying palates of our group. A highlight of the evening was the musical accompaniment of a jazz trio to our dinner experience.
Our waiter was very kind and the meal was delicious. We went for restaurant week and they had a lot of good options. The cheesecake was to die for.
Old school atmosphere with small jazz combo playing in the dining room. Food was nicely prepared.
Our food was inconsistent. Some of the desserts and appetizers were really good but others were lacking in Caesar salad was well prepared while mesclun salad with pear emulsion was tasteless.
One diner said the tiramisu was the best he has had anywhere ,my lemon tart had a very dense hard crust and was not exceptional in anyway. All 4 entrees were good.
My husband and I had a wonderful lunch. The hangar steak was delicious and the waiter personable
Love this restaurant. Great food and service. Enjoyed by locals and out of town guests.
We picked this restaurant for Restaurant Week because it makes the whole menu available. I had the Hanger steak, my wife had the Chicken Envoltine. We both loved our choices. The live Jazz was a nice bonus.
We plan on coming back.
Great place music adds to the romantic ambience
Food was food, service mostly good (some time gaps). We had hoped the music would start at 7 so we could enjoy before we left but hadn’t started by 7:15. This was restaurant week so we enjoyed the price break.
Food was good. The service is always very slow.
The food and service was wonderful as always. This is our fourth visit to this restaurant and we will be back for many more visits.
Excellent! We loved the live music and the food was delucious!
Great overall but some guest were really loud.
We had a large party - 8 people - all from out of town. Everyone ordered something different and we were all very happy. Excellent dinner - jazz combo was so enjoyable and music still allowed for conversation even though we were just two tables away.
This is seriusly the best Itlaian restaurant I have been to. I cannot stop raving about it and coming back!!
As always, the food was great and the music was good. I was surprised that there were not more people there, but it was a bit late for brunch on a Sunday (1:00 pm).
Understated dinner and jazz spot. A low key gem.
Great service, great menu - excellent selection. Steak was cooked perfectly. Free parking! Jazz music after 7:00 p.m.
Good lunch options. Wife steak a bit overdone, but overall four stars
Our third time to spend New Year's Eve at Laporta's. Always nice smooth jazz, an interesting menu, and hats and horns at midnight. Three course meal with interesting choices including delicious mushrooms in puff pastry, pork tenderloin medallions, cheesecake, and apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream.
Fun New Years celebration. Food was not very good for the money spent on the evening. I highly recommend Laporta for a bowl of pasta and some great jazz.
Enjoyed the mussels and filet mignon! Delicious! The entertainment was perfect.
Excellent, top quality food in very good surroundings. And to top it off, the combo playing music was excellent.
Great live jazz and wonderful food. It's a great spot for a celebration or an evening out with friends.
Delicious, and excellent value for Christmas Eve special
menu, plus live jazz trio. Nice vibe Coming back for New Years.
went for dinner and was underwhelmed with food, atmosphere. First time there - last time there.
meeting friends in Old Town to visit the White House at Christmas. Found this restaurant and was very pleased with food, service and overall experience.
