I really wanted to like Lantern, because the food was delicious. However, I was not happy with the service we received. The waiter made us feel rushed, when we were trying to enjoy a birthday dinner for two. In addition, when the server brought our entrees out, she dropped it off hurriedly. It turned out when I tasted the food she brought me a different dish than what I ordered. It was good so I decided to eat it. When we were done and still sipping our cocktails, our waiter came to pick up our dishes and abruptly ask if we wanted anything else, but did not proffer a desert menu. He acted eager for us to leave. I was disappointed overall with the experience. I would not recommend.
It was cool, It did kind of smell, but It might have been another customer... Overall the service was good... I did think it would be fancier... but the drinks ultimately helped my perception (if you know what I mean), Go for the martinis !
Poor service, and missing cutlery!!
The windows need to be cleaned. This is the first you see so one would think other things are dirty.
Charge more for adequate sized shrimp.
Not impressed with food or waiter.
Spicy meal was inedible because it was too hot
Reliable neighborhood gem (2nd Ave, Manhattan location). This is a restaurant that has a nice selection of appetizers and main courses, all offered at reasonable prices. It has a relaxed vibe and you can go at your own pace.
Very noisy and very cold inside. My daughter ordered the Pad Thai and had a stomach upset all night after that. Service staff is very friendly however...
Great spot for Thai-lovers. I was there with my parents and we enjoyed the food very much. The place is a little bit crowded, but that is on the other hand also a good sign. The ingedrients are fresh and the meals are tasteful.
Been here before for the bar (which was good) but this time for a meal. Great service, great decor, nice waiters and very fair prices. A+ for me.
This was a great spot for a group of 8 dinner. The service in the beginning was a little slow but everyone was very kind. They even allowed us to bring in an outside cake which I know some places charge for. Would definitely go back.
Delicious, reliable food! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great little spot! Not overly crowded. Great happy hour! Food was excellent and good portions, loved the decor and ambience
Really lovely restaurant. Great food in a relaxed setting. Highly recommended if you enjoy authentic Thai Food
Lovely host, good service, very nice food, warm atmosphere.
We needed a location to host an 8-person mini reunion in NYC, and this was great - good location, yummy food, affordable prices, and attentive staff; after we ordered it took just a few minutes to receive our food! Docked a star for ambience just because at times it was so loud that it was hard to hear conversations. All in all though would definitely come again!!
Food was great but restaurant was great, and the service left something (several things) to be desired.
Good food at a good price. Excellent duck dish and soup.
Worst Thai food I've ever had, sloppy presentation. Food was tasteless. Take out joints are better than this
This was our first visit and it was very nice. The food was delicious! We had the Pineapple Flounder that was a generous serving and wonderfully prepared, Pad Thai and Chicken in Green Curry - all excellent. Try it!
Delightful spot, with nice waiters and good flavor. The price was affordable with fair portion sizes. I would definitely return.
Lovely food and a great selection for vegetarians and vegans. Very attentive staff. Example: I ordered first, then my friend. I ordered a vegan dish. When my friend placed his order, the waiter told him his dish contained egg and asked if that was ok. Really nice of him.
The food was fresh, and the spice level just right. Also the dishes were not over sweetened as they sometimes are in Thai restaurants.
Finally, this place is NOT expensive at all. Quite a steal actually.
The mode is perfect and
Everything we tasted was overly sweet and lacking the nuances that make Thai cuisine intriguing. The kitchen seems capable of more but have been saddled with recipes that...
Really good, affordable Thai w/ in a very pretty atmosphere.
Great place. Attentive staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
The portions are huge given the lower -than-average prices. Service was fast and efficient.
So delicious! The food was fabulous! Highly recommend it,
Totally average food. Good value for a family of five.
The food I ordered was too sweet. Drunkmen noodle was too sweet and basil beef was really salty from too much soy sauce and the beef was too old. For the value, it was just okay, but for someone expecting it to be more flavored than sweeten food, I'm disappointed.
Easy place for a large group on a Friday night
Food excellent but it gets loud very easily as there is nothing to absorb the sounds of plates and conversations
I thoroughly enjoyed the spinach noodles and our 1yr old devoured their chicken satay. The service was friendly and fast.
When our original location couldn't accept a reservation of 9, we changed to come here and were not disappointed. My pad thai was delicious (would have loved another plate!), others had pad see ew, summer rolls, papaya salad, and fish with lime. Drinks were very reasonable and our service was great. It's a little out of the way for me - but I don't think you'd have to twist my arm to go back.
The restaurant was cold and when they tried to turn on the heat there was a strong gas smell so it was turned back off. Food was average.
Cute little place for mediocre Thai food. The Tom yum soup was too sweet for my taste and the pad Thai was alright. The portion was appropriately sized for the price and the pineapple fried rice was pretty decent.
Highly recommend the pineapple-ginger chicken. Tasted my friend's green noodle vegetable dish and it was fantastic as well. Would love to come back and try other dishes. :)
Very nice setting!
Lantern is always a great experience. The food, ambiance, and drinks are fantastic and the service is even better. Best pad Thai in the city, hands down.
This place is amazing! The decor was so pretty, friendly staff and delicious food/drinks. Affordable prices too!
