We needed a location to host an 8-person mini reunion in NYC, and this was great - good location, yummy food, affordable prices, and attentive staff; after we ordered it took just a few minutes to receive our food! Docked a star for ambience just because at times it was so loud that it was hard to hear conversations. All in all though would definitely come again!!

Worst Thai food I've ever had, sloppy presentation. Food was tasteless. Take out joints are better than this

This was our first visit and it was very nice. The food was delicious! We had the Pineapple Flounder that was a generous serving and wonderfully prepared, Pad Thai and Chicken in Green Curry - all excellent. Try it!

Lovely food and a great selection for vegetarians and vegans. Very attentive staff. Example: I ordered first, then my friend. I ordered a vegan dish. When my friend placed his order, the waiter told him his dish contained egg and asked if that was ok. Really nice of him.
The food was fresh, and the spice level just right. Also the dishes were not over sweetened as they sometimes are in Thai restaurants.
Finally, this place is NOT expensive at all. Quite a steal actually.

The food I ordered was too sweet. Drunkmen noodle was too sweet and basil beef was really salty from too much soy sauce and the beef was too old. For the value, it was just okay, but for someone expecting it to be more flavored than sweeten food, I'm disappointed.

When our original location couldn't accept a reservation of 9, we changed to come here and were not disappointed. My pad thai was delicious (would have loved another plate!), others had pad see ew, summer rolls, papaya salad, and fish with lime. Drinks were very reasonable and our service was great. It's a little out of the way for me - but I don't think you'd have to twist my arm to go back.

Cute little place for mediocre Thai food. The Tom yum soup was too sweet for my taste and the pad Thai was alright. The portion was appropriately sized for the price and the pineapple fried rice was pretty decent.

We were in NYC for one night (from London). Having read the reviews on OpenTable, we thought we give it a go.

The restaurant seemed nice enough, however, it was too cold. The service was lack-luster (practically non-existence) even though they were not busy. The food was mediocre - with Thai flavours evidently lacking. The starters were poor. We did not have more than two spoonfuls of each of the two curries we ordered and left the meal. The rice had more flavour! Then the waitress had the nerve to ask if we wanted the meal packed!

I've been to many a Thai restaurants in London and New York and I have to say, I'll not be returning to this one.

The cost of the meal and the service charge was not worth it. I'd rather pay more for a decent meal and experience than something as bad as this!

The best thing was the food. I went there on a Saturday for my birthday with my sisters..i had the Gyoza (chicken dumplings) as my apetizer it was really good and for the main dish i had pineapple chicken fried rice and lemonade was soo good. The service was ok. Would definitely come back again only for the food. Lol

Horribly loud on a Friday night. The food was run of mill Thai and nothing stood out except the overly sweet masasman curry and terribly bland Som Tum. The service was indifferent at best. Dishes arrived at the table without order and with long pauses in between including the last entree showing up 15 minutes after everything else. They did comp that dish but this place isn't worth a second visit.

I dined with Lantern Thai once realizing my favorite Thai restaurant was booked solid for the night. No biggie. I secured a reservation at Lantern and was really excited to dine after reading the reviews. The restaurant is small but the ambience is very mellow and cozy. The lighting is very dark, many guests were using their phones to read the menu. I ordered the tofu pineapple fried rice and my friend ordered a chicken stir fry dish. I explained to the waiter that I'm 100% vegetarian and he assured me the dish would be prepared as such. After waiting over 30mins our food was served. We were starving and immediately began stuffing our faces(classy I know). Immediately after my 1st bite I noticed there a was huge morsel of chicken in my mouth. My whole plate was chicken fried rice. I was disgusted. I grabbed the server and told him and he was very nonchalant about the situation. The server came back to me and said "it was my bad, I told them chicken and not tofu." By this time I'm hungry and annoyed so wait for my correct order for another 10mins. The meal was delicious but my experience was ultimately soured. Lantern Thai you must adhere to guests food allergies and specifications!

I came here for an anniversary dinner and was fairly disappointed! Admittedly it had been a year since my last visit but the food was not nearly as delicious or fresh as I expected. The pineapple fried rice was salty and the pineappples tasted as if they came right out of the can. The Thai Iced Tea was way too sweet and the Wok Fried dish was mediocre at best. Expected way better from a place that had had great food in the past.
