   The poulet aux morilles, the duck à l'orange, and the zhee burger were all fantastic. The salmon was only slightly overcooked. Great place.

   The charcuterie was skimpy but decent. Waiter poured and overflowed the glass, then called it”good luck.” Main courses were equally bad- steaks and prime ribs overcooked, tasteless. Side potatoes tasted like frozen food from Costco. Inattentive service. The only redeeming thing about this evening was spending time with beloved family. Do NOT waste your time, dollars, or palate.

   I am staying nearby with friends and we walked over to dinner last night. The restaurant is very small but the inside does not feel cramped. We were a group of 4 and started with a really nice selection of expertly shucked oysters that were delicious and the charcuterie plate. The cheeses were not explained by type so that would probably be my only mark for service. The meats, cheeses, bread and butter were all delicious. For entrees, my BF + I both got "Zhe Burger" which was so juicy, tender and the brioche bun and gruyere cheese were fantastic. Difficult to cook such a thick burger so perfectly! My friends got the Duck Breast + Bouillabaisse and they loved both. Everything was seasons thoroughly but not oversalted like most French bistros. The restaurant just also smells really great like you are walking into a chef's home! We were so full we did not get dessert. Definitely want to come back for Brunch! I'm so happy this restaurant has weathered the storm of COVID and succeeds so well I used to live in this neighborhood so I'm very happy to see a favorite succeed. The owner is also super nice.

    The tastiest and most tender duck breast I’ve found anywhere in New York. L’Antagoniste is a must for lovers of French food and a hip, casual fine-dining evening.

    I miss the old days. L’Antagoniste used to be a favorite, but we had an all around bad experience yesterday. First, we ordered a dozen oysters and only received 11. The waiter wasn’t very apologetic and said he’d only charge us for each oyster individually. He followed up with an excuse that the person shucking oysters was inundated with orders - there was only one other table with oysters at the time. Our entrees (mussels and a burger) took almost an hour - there were only three tables occupied in the restaurant at the time in addition to one person at the bar, who already had his food when we arrived at 6:20pm. Ironically, a large party of 6 who ordered at least 25 mins after us received their entrees before we did, but their appetizers arrived after their entrées. During the wait for our food a large rat scampered across the outside patio dining area - of course they can’t control this, but after poor service and a long wait this topped off an all around subpar experience.

    Probably the best French food I have ever had, Paris included. Amadeus was our waiter and she was kind, patient, and overall, phenomenal. Well priced for the quality you’re getting and it was a great birthday dinner, would come back in a heartbeat.

    As always the food and ambience were great, but I have to call out that they were super accommodating when most of our party got stuck in traffic. They held our reservation and were very gracious about it. I don't live in Brooklyn anymore but this is a go to when I'm here

    Went with 2 girl friends for a casual Sunday brunch. I was initially worried, because there were so few time slots available for online RSVP, but when we arrived we found the restaurant to be pleasantly busy but not crowded. Food and service were amazing, and the back patio is such a cute and secluded place for a nice meal.

    Lovely spot, nice setting, great for a date. Only issue was that we ordered a MR filet mignon, were told that’s how the chef recommended it, and it came very medium well. Very.

    My return to L'Antagoniste since the pandemic hit in 2020 was welcoming -- like a warm hug from a good friend that you have missed for too long. The atmosphere is comfortable, charming and authentic. The service is welcoming, attentive but not intrusive. The meal (salads and the seared sea scallops and duck a l'orange) was exceptional, prepared with great care and presented beautifully. The wine list is extensive (many hard-to-find wines), with several selections at different price points. Our server's recommendation--a remarkable beaujolais--was a perfect choice. We thoroughly enjoyed our transformative visit to this lovely restaurant. We will be back soon!
