Restaurants near Yorkville Prairie Nature Preserve

Giardino’s is quickly becoming our favorite restaurant! Delicious food and drinks! Our server was excellent and very attentive! Noise level is high-ish, so we concentrated on eating our yummy food. We can talk anytime! Portions are large-ish and shareable, especially the Caesar salad. We love the delicious Tagliatelle Bolognese and the chicken Parmesan. It’s a beautiful restaurant! Keep of the great job!

We started with fried green tomatoes for an appetizer- excellent! My wife had shrimp and grits which she said was really good. My catfish was fried with a creole sauce over a bed of sautéed greens and jambalaya. The catfish was cooked perfectly and the greens, jambalaya and sauce had just the right level of spice. The service was excellent and we will definitely be back again. We ate before a performance at the Paramount which worked out perfectly.

The host greeted us on our anniversary and recommended outside seating on the veranda when we expressed concern about the bugs on this lovely evening. Voila, covered veranda with fan, and we enjoyed our delicious bug-free meal, with a cute Anniversary greeting on the table. Edgar's trainee did well, and had an excellent teacher and model. Edgar kindly checked for a favorite dessert that had been on the Mother's Day menu a few days earlier. (Please put it in regular rotation: Tarta de Valencia! Please!), but no dice. This is our favorite celebration restaurant, and we were not disappointed, especially with the complimentary glasses of bubbly served with our dessert. We had some of our standard favorites (jamon serrano, pinchos de solomillo, calamares a la plancha), and tried the empanada de buey (delicious but overpowering sauce) and the special bunuelos de manchego (yum!). My husband of 37 years graciously shared his favorite Crema catalana, a fitting finish to our anniversary dinner! Thanks for a great celebration!
