Café Berlin has been serving authentic German cuisine on Capitol Hill since 1985. It occupies the ground floor of three townhouses whose front yards serve as Biergarten for outdoor dining. Reuniting with a former colleague, I felt satisfied that the menu (gluten-free, etc.) would please her—and it did. The thoughtful wait staff members were attentive but not hovering. We both enjoyed the soups and salads and even lingered over cups of cappuccino. The week prior, I enjoyed a similar experience with another out of town friend. Well done!

Overall good experience. Food, drinks and service were very good. It’s a very nice restaurant. My only complaint is that the music is way too loud. We could not hear anyone at our table. If they hadn’t been able to relocate us to the outside area, we would have left.

I had the Grilled Chicken which was seasoned very well. The Collard Greens were awesome and I will back to try the Fried Red Snapper next time. Cool place for drinks or dinner.
