Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table. We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required. We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

Bata'a has a rather unique menu. When you look at your choices, you wonder what you are going to order as the choices are not your typical menu choices. My wife is a very picky eater. Looking at the menu, other than a selection for a steak she said guess I'm not going to eat. For the four of us, the waiter recommended ordering 8 different items and sharing, which we did. The food was outstanding. My wife loved every item and was very pleased with her meal. The portions are very small. If you are a big eater, this is probably not the place for you. All of us enjoyed our meal and were somewhat surprised that though portions were small that our appetite was satisfied.

We ordered two appetizers, the grilled beets, and calimari and both were delicious. Calamari was cooked perfectly, not at all greasy. atbeets were over a whipped goat cheese, and the dish was seriously yummy!! The striped bass entree was cooked perfectly, and the accompanying Veracruz sauce was scrumptious; I wanted to lick the plate! We shared two desserts, the chocolate ganache, and an orange olive oil cake. Both were very good but neither are really my thing, however the homemade whipped cream was delightful. I am never disappointed with the food at this restaurant. Food is high-quality and well priced for what it is.
