Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton—the women behind Canal House Station—are cooks, writers, and artists. In 2007 they founded Canal House, which includes a publishing venture and a culinary, photography, and design studio. Their cookbook "Canal House Cooks Every Day" received a James Beard Award in 2012. In 2019, Christopher and Melissa opened Canal House Station, a hidden gem tucked into an elegantly restored 1870s train station on the banks of the Delaware River in Milford, NJ. Their idiosyncratic, modern American cuisine is inspired by local ingredients that are ripe and in season in Hunterdon and Bucks County. They are two women, cooking together, and sharing their love of gathering people around the table to eat good food. They have been nominated twice for a James Beard Foundation “Best Chef: Mid Atlantic” award.Canal House Station offers "Sunday Dinner" every Sunday. The Ghost Light Inn’s restaurant, Stella, is inspired by local ingredients from the region’s best farmers and artisans. The main dining room offers a mix of freestanding tables and booths. During the winter months, reservations for outdoor tables are not available. However, you are more than welcome to make a note in your reservation that you would like to sit outside. The patio is heated.Parking in New Hope can be hard to come by. The parking lot located in front of Stella is owned and operated by the Bucks County Playhouse. Stella cannot validate parking. When valet is present the cost to park is $30. When valet is not available, spaces are metered and paid for via the ParkMobile app. 100% of all parking proceeds directly benefits the betterment of the Bucks County Playhouse.

As a regular patron of this fine restaurant I was rather disappointed when the bill came and my continued support of this restaurant was not reflected. When I made the reservations I informed them of my wife’s 65th birthday celebration to which a candle was placed on the dessert to celebrate. I was hoping not to see the charge of the dessert on my bill as a token of their appreciation for being a long time customer but to my surprise it was on the bill. Unfortunately upon leaving we walked out as if we didn’t exist. Needs hospitality updates. I must say the food was exceptional as always. Hoping for better.
