"Pleasantly surprised to see so many Chinese diners! I like to think this is a sign of a good and authentic Chinese restaurant! The restaurant was packed. The Peking duck was probably the best I’ve had in Chicago so far, and my family has been on the hunt for a while… I really appreciate that the duck is served with very thin homemade pancakes. A differentiator in my book. XLB were delicious also."See more
"My wife and I were in Chicago for a few days and wanted to experience rooftop dining. Fortunately we chose Upstairs at the Gwen, which is located at the top of The Gwen luxury hotel in downtown Chicago. In addition to rooftop seating, they offer indoor seating and a bar as well.
We went at lunchtime right after they opened, so we had the rooftop mostly to ourselves. The ambiance was relaxing and casual, which fit perfectly with the 2 “signature cocktails” we ordered.
For lunch, we split the box lunch, which comes with choice of sandwich, soup of the day, and choice of dessert. I let our server know that we needed to leave by a certain time, and she made sure that our drinks, food, and bill were delivered in a timely fashion.
Overall this is a great place to grab a couple drinks and some food. Prices were about what you’d expect for a restaurant at a luxury hotel."See more
