My wife and I spent two days to look at Bauhaus stuff in Weimar and wanted a memorable dining experience. Andreas Scholz came in above expectations. We were welcomed by Mrs. Scholz who was charming (fluent in English!) and gave us a great sense of the menu. Their format for prix fix was really well thought out as you could go with anything from 3 to 9 (!) courses. We managed 4 but had we gone larger it would have been via smaller portions. I recommend you take the wine pairing option. It is good value and you will taste wines, many from the region, that were very well paired, excellent in their own right and are unlikely to be found elsewhere in Germany let alone New York or London. The ambience was great too. It is not a flashy or chi chi kind of place but unpretentiousness yet sophisticated where you can have a conversation yet not be too audible.

We assumed that our table would be in the main hall, but we were placed in the basement, although there were empty tables in the main hall. For my elderly parents who came to Plauen from out of town, this was an unpleasant surprise.

The staff were friendly and informative about the unusual menu. Each dish we tried was good but nothing stood out as extraordinary. It was a good place to get together with friends and try new foods. We received a small complimentary glass of beer and bread and butter. A bit pricey but we will go back.
