Cellar 47 was founded in 1977 by Angelo Grasso, a sugar cane cutter and fruit picker with no hospitality experience, who taught himself the art of great food and service. In 1981, Angelo married Franca, who joined him in the business. Originally located in a cellar at 47 High Street, the name Cellar 47 was born. In 1995, they moved to a larger site where they continue to host memorable events. Today, Angelo and Franca’s children, Bianca and John, manage the business alongside head chef John Romano, continuing the tradition of exceptional meals and service in Shepparton’s CBD. In addition to their signature dishes like the beloved Chicken Pine Nut and Veal Scallopini, Cellar 47 offers a popular range of pizza, pasta and a fast selection of meats, all crafted with the same dedication to quality and flavour that has defined the restaurant for decades.
