Itria is a Modern Italian restaurant brought to you by Chef Daniel Evers and Omakase Capital. The name comes from the Syriac word 'itriya,' used by Arab geographer al-ldrisi to describe a type of dried pasta he saw in Sicily during the 12th century. The origins of this term are much older, however, with varying versions of it found in ancient records across the Mediterranean and Middle-East. The name reflects just a small piece of the evolution of Italian cuisine as a confluence of global influences. Our goal is to build on the foundations of classical Italian cooking to create a dining experience that respects tradition without being overly constrained by it.

Owners Luis Raga and Raul Aguilera brings you their vision of a casual bar/restaurant in Spain: a fun and unpretentious spot to gather friends, family, or dates. We bring you flavors from all over Spain, the concept is tapas and paellas to be shared at the table. You'll see dishes come on and off the menu often and while we offer a broad selection of dishes, due to our small kitchen, certain tapas will run out during the service. Don’t miss our Happy hour Mon-Fri 5-6pm ONLY on BAR & HIGH TOPS for heavily discounted tapas and drinks. Also, make sure to check our back patio, it will transport you to a warm summer night of the south of Spain. If driving street parking could be tricky, check out the SF general hospital parking structure just 2 blocks away from the restaurant. If coming from the East Bay or Peninsula location is just a few blocks from the freeway (exit Cesar Chavez/Potrero on the 80 freeway). The nearest Bart station is at Potrero & 24th, a 15-minute walk.

We were astonished at how transformed we felt during the experience. We had no clue what to expect having been out first time here as well as our first time experiencing a Omakase style serving. The 19-course meal was a journey in itself. The care in making each one, the explanation before each bite, and the taste was out of this world. You could observe both the chef and the kitchen as a whole between each bite, and the staff was extremely accommodating during the entire dinner. I by no means am a sushi expert, but this was by and far the best sushi I have ever had in life and will make sure to visit again next time we are back in the Bay Area.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and I would definitely return. It was a busy Saturday night so the service was on the slower side - but all very, very polite. Excellent range of Japanese sashimi, nigiri, udon, hand rolls, and a la carte - we had the chef’s nigiri tasting menu options for 5 and 8 pieces. The fish liver appetizer was sold out or else we would have had that too. Plus the “avocado bomb” appetizer, which arrived after our sushi. We tried a couple of sakes too. Everything was super flavorful and umami-rich. I will be craving it until I can have it again.
