We had a great evening with a meal for three, beautiful old pub with an extraordinary and unusual room space full of ancient atmosphere 14th century. The pub was not full and had a mixture of locals and outsiders with a friendly vibe. The staff were helpful and looked after us very well. Good selection of wines and a great menu with some interesting and inspired combinations. Started with some Devilled scratchings which were an interesting twist on the traditional pork scratchings. Followed by Pan fried Pollock little gem and a green sauce which was delicious, one of us had a had lemon sole in breadcrumbs with a great home made tartar sauce, and I had the Herdwick Barnsley chop with lentils and aioli which was scrumptious and a great combination. Followed by a great rice pudding with rhubarb and also a damson ice cream as well as a Gorse flower ice cream which was really novel. A tasty and memorable evening in a beautiful old space, make sure your car is facing the right way as existing and arriving is a little tricky due to narrow lanes! Well worth a visit we will be back again. Thank you to all the staff.

Absolutely love the whole ethos of Emilia. Great meal and really loved the Negroni Bianco cocktail.

We enjoyed the ray wing accompanied by a local wine at the recommendation on the waiter - stunning. And the Basque cheese cake was light and unctuous. Cannot fault it.
