Stephen Starr’s Buddakan is a spectacular restaurant featuring exotic flavors of modern Asian cuisine with creativity and drama. Bon Appetit notes, "The mostly white space is striking, with a lit-from-within communal table in the middle of the room, a waterfall & a ten-foot, candle-bedecked Buddha. The religious icon watches over hip customers indulging in pan-Asian cuisine that far surpasses the fare usually found at hot spots like this." Newsweek reports, "Design also serves as a signifier for cuisine. You walk into Buddakan, one of the hottest new restaurants in Philadelphia, past a shimmering waterfall & Japanese river stones & you say to yourself, 'ginger-miso everything' even before you see the magnificent 10-foot Buddha dominating the dining room." Named one of “America's Top 50 Restaurants" by Travel & Leisure and 'Top Restaurant for Fun' by Gourmet, Buddakan has become one of the country's most talked about restaurants.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our time at Buddakan. We were celebrating her birthday and she mentioned that she would like to go! I had never been but was intrigued by the buddha of course!😊 I ordered the the sea bass which was delicious! It was perfectly cooked and the haricots, butternut squash and mushrooms were delightful! My gf enjoyed her crispy fish which was completely deboned! The waiter, Rachel, was very helpful and remembered that our table had a birthday and arranged for her to get chocolate sorbet which is dairy free! Rachel also doubled checked to make sure there was no shellfish or dairy to accommodate my allergies and restrictions! I sincerely enjoyed my time at the restaurant and my gf and I will definitely come back!!!

A really nice experience. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Highs: Service. The fried bass was amazing, it csn be split 2-3 ways. A nice wine list. The prawns were great. Lows: The gazpacho was a miss, skip it. I didn’t care for the oysters. The flat bread was also underwhelming. The cheese course was kind of blah.

Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent company. The tapas we had were very good and the paella was terrific. The prices were good, though the wine was over priced. We had a Spanish Rioja Reserva which can be purchased at the liquor store for $35-$40 a bottle. It was $115. Overall good experience.

The staff at Morimoto Philadelphia were outstanding and the food was excellent. I have been to other Morimoto restaurants around the country and this was just as fantastic. They even remembered my wife’s birthday that I had mentioned when making the reservation. I highly recommend this location.
