Originally from Mexico City, Chef Fernando Olea, formerly Chef of Epazote, has been enthralling diners in Santa Fe since 1991. Chef Olea creates sophisticated flavors using Old Mexico’s indigenous and culinary traditions alongside ingredients from around the world. His menu is deliberately small, featuring fresh and locally sourced produce and meats when possible.Nothing evokes the mystery of Mexican cuisine more than mole, a sauce of complex flavors that usually includes toasted and ground spices, seeds, nuts, chocolate and chile. Many mole recipes contain more than thirty ingredients and some recipes have five varieties of chile alone. Chef Olea is delighted to share his moles that include his "New Mexican Mole" that he created to commemorate Santa Fe’s 400 year anniversary in 2009. The large mural in the main dining room, was painted and presented to Chef Olea by Federico Leon De La Vega, a well- known artist from Mexico City.

Just love this restaurant. A special wonderful place! We had a lot of things the entire menu is extraordinary! We had a sashimi plate that was very good but tricky to share with 3 people, I had the miso glazed fish that had ramen and a truffle sauce that was out of this world, the light crepe made with Meyer cream was spectacular! Super experience! Yay

Coming here for over 20 years. Tonight was wonderful. Leo, our waiter was perfect. Food was great. We were outside when a threatening storm blew in and Leo moved us inside to a lovely table so we continued our dinner safe and sound. I can’t recommend this more highly. A lovely night. We’ll continue to make Santacafe our number one choice on special occasions and anytime we feel like going out for a perfect meal.

The food was excellent; we recommend the kale salad, the Spanish and mushroom soup, and the bread. After that, we ordered the vegetarian paella and a couple of tapas; each dish was served properly and sufficient. The cocktails were average. The place is nice but since is small it gets crowded immediately. We do recommend the food.

Absolutely fabulous dining experience. Southwest gastronomic flavors taken to the next step of fine dining! From the moment we walked in we were treated like VIPs. The service was beyond excellent, with Alycin as our server. The food was presented creatively and when it hit your palette one’s taste buds were extremely happy ! Chef walked around greeting and thanking guests. The James Beard Award is truly deserved.

We had a wonderful time at Coyote Cafe for our 52nd anniversary! Our waiter, Andy, couldn’t have been nicer nor more attentive. He, as well as others, came to our table to check on us frequently and to congratulate us. The meal was enjoyable as well. Neither of us really can say we love kale, but the kale salad with pine nuts was quite tasty. The grilled lobster was delightful with that smoky charred shell taste. The pork had great flavor if a bit dry. All in all - a great place to dine. Thank you for such a lovely evening!
