Across from Millennium park and along Chicago’s Cultural Mile, Acanto Restaurant + Wine Bar is a treasured destination for those who appreciate authentic and approachable Italian food in a conversation-friendly atmosphere. Acanto serves seasonally-driven Italian cuisine from both regions of Italy utilizing artisanal ingredients from Midwest farmers and producers. Acanto boasts one of the most lauded wine programs in the US, including a 3-star rating by World of Fine Wine and a two-glass “Best of Excellence” rating by Wine Spectator. The libations menu is rounded out by Italian classics including spritzes and negronis along with craft cocktails, beer, and spirits. From the minds of Adolfo Garcia (Son of a Butcher, Pearl Tavern) and long-time restaurateur, Phil Stefani, comes Broken English Taco Pub. Located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Lake Street, Broken English is steps away from Millennium Park, and in the center of the new vibrant hotel and residential area. On the name, Garcia says, “I speak English with my friends, and I often find myself mixing in Spanish words because there are some phrases that simply don’t translate to English. This happens in many other languages and cultures, but that is what makes the name ‘Broken English’ fun – it is part of our daily slang.”

The 6 of us had a lovely lunch today at the Walnut Room. It is one of my favorite places to eat during the holiday season! Our server Rex was amazing and he went out of his way to make our time together extra special! Can't wait until next year!!

A favorite place in Chicago. A terrific, convenient location across from Millennium Park, and a wonderful ambience. The food and service were both outstanding. We began our meal with lobster bisque, which was exquisite. I had the delicious Beef Bourguignon, which was presented beautifully and made with shortribs. Wonderful. My friend had the apple salad with steak, and raved in particular about the delicious caraway dressing. We shared the flourless chocolate cake for a yummy dessert, and cafe cortado. And we both had beautiful beaujolais. In all, a fabulous experience!

Everything was delicious. My husband got the Fusilli which was soo good. I got the Bucatini which was also very good! We had calamari for appetizers- it was fresh and not overly greasy/fried. We had the Torta Barozzi and Torta Nonna for dessert (flourless chocolate cake and the almond cake) and they were some of the best desserts I’ve had! The portions are small compared to most restaurants but they are appropriate and we left full! The only thing I thought was a bit pricey for the quality were the drinks! My husband enjoyed the Monterrat and Old Fashioned and the wine was good.
