"We were a party of eight for a family event. The restaurant is elegant, beautiful, spacious. The food was beautifully prepared and presented. Prices were reasonable considering the upscale venue. The only slight disappointment was that while the service was excellent, it took a long time for our dishes to emerge from the kitchen. We were there at noon on a Sunday and the restaurant was far from busy, so don't know what was responsible for the slow output."See more

"the restaurant portion of this pizzeria is superb. The chef has a good Italian menu and evening specials that are great. The pizza in the other side of the restaurant is excellent, but not served in the dining room."See more

"Went here before a show at MPAC. They asked whether we were going to the show and told us they would time everything so we had time. They did indeed. Service was the very best I had in a very long time. They were true professionals and how to set, clear and attend to our table. Much appreciated. The drinks were quick expensive, but very good."See more

"Went to have dinner and see a band play. Really liked the set up with a band and tables. Beer selection was great, service was outstanding however, other than the german menu the prices are very high and limited selection; when in the atmosphere of seeing a band we all wanted burgers and bites to eat. Burgers were $19.00 but I understand the type of place we are at... Overall really liked the place, Id recommend to folks if going to see a band maybe grab some food elsewhere first ( unless you want the high price menu items) and just get drinks during your time at the Rathskeller."See more

"Wife and I dined at the Oyster Bar pre-Wood Brothers performance at MPAC earlier this week. We've been there a few times, always a great experience. We began with Bombay Sapphire martinis w/olives, no vermouth, a dozen oysters. I had the wagyu flatiron steak - "smoked fingerling potatoes, black garlic, maitake mushrooms, cipollini onions". Ordered medium rare, it was *exceptionally* good! Wife had the special of the evening, a swordfish plate, which she said was excellent. Two double espressos later, off to the show. 6:30 reservation, 8:00 show - a guaranteed hit. Note the old rotary phone decor - a wink to the repurposed mansion having been built by AT&T's first president. (And for extra points, know about AT&T's gorgeous original headquarters on Broadway across from St. Paul's Chapel - designed by the same architect! And if you time your visit right, you get live Bach in St. Paul's!) Only complaint - and this is honestly a false equivalent here - we would've liked a west coast oyster option, but availability probably fluctuates. Ambiance-wise, expect groups of friends, co-workers in celebration, families, couples of several generations. Table service was ample, valet parking optional and possibly free if you are attending an MPAC performance. Hope you found this useful! (And by the way, the Wood Brothers show later that night was great!)."See more
