Our love of flavourful beer runs deep, and it inspired us to open as Canada’s first microbrewery back in 1984. In a time of limited beer options, it became our mission to craft delicious, locally brewed beer that we were proud to share with our friends. Today, that mission remains the same, with every new style offered at our original small batch brewery on Granville Island. From our very first Island Lager, to the wide variety of flavours we craft today, our beer is as flavourful and refreshing as the moments we spend together. Some are bold and full of life, others are a little more laid back – but every one is brewed with high quality, natural ingredients – and best enjoyed with friends. Good beer + good people = It’s good to be here.

I had a very good experience at DOCKSIDE. The beet and walnut salad with cauliflower puree was wonderful. My margerita pizza was also very good. Our server Holly was very attentive , friendly and helpful. My friends cheese board was not exactly as descrfibed on the menu-- there no olives or nuts , and the "pickeld vegetables" were ...pickles. The board comes only with a few crostini crackers and might have been nice with a few slices of a baguette. Atmosphere both inside and out is lovely. Elegant, but not ostentatious. However-- inside on the wall that separates the kitchen from the dining area ( it actually is the waist high wall right below where the chefs work -- hard to explain)) is an aquarium with tropical fish. While pretty and very clean, I couldn't help but notice how narrow the tank was and I felt very sad for the fish. I was not the only patron who noticed this. The tank or tanks are long but I would say no more than twelve inches wide. And very sparse. To me the fish looked trapped and stressed. I have written to the restaurant and suggested rehoming the fish somewhere that will have more space and more water greenery ( there are fish rescues that do this) and replacing the wall with art by a local artist. It would be just as pretty and would benefit a local artist. Either that or use the tank as a water art dispaly without the fish. Other than the disturbinbg feeling about the fish my lunch was very good. I would go back.

Wonderful food. We had the duck and it was truly amazing, both the taste and how it was served with a flambe at the table, then a course of the skin (which was wonderful) and then the duck meat. All served with paper-thin pancakes and multiple condiments. The four of us ate every bit. Our next favorite dish was the fish in a hot pot. It is served with dry ice in a saucer underneath that is covered with water at the table so it fogs up around the dish--very impressive. And it cools the dish just a touch so it is not too hot to eat. Both the texture and taste were divine. Also the vegetables were similarly great--crispy green beans and eggplant. And we appreciated the free parking. The service was a bit abrupt but not actually rude, just not gracious. We put up with it. We will be back next time we are in Vancouver, we are already looking forward to it..
