Purchased in 2015 by Daniel Smith and Elizabeth Du Plain, UpRooted is located on Rt. 120 in McHenry, near the Fox River. Built in 1938, the building has a history as a bar, restaurant, and even the McHenry Moose Lodge, and later housed Off-Track Betting.Dan and Liz completely renovated the building, updating the roof, electrical, plumbing, and utilities. The interior now features new, handicap-accessible bathrooms, a modern kitchen, and a dining room with new walls and ceiling. The bar boasts new hickory, hard maple, and pine finishes. The exterior has been freshly painted and includes a large front deck.UpRooted offers Certified Angus Beef steaks, seafood, antibiotic/hormone-free chicken, vegetarian/vegan options, and seasonal specials. Enjoyed a great night with a wine tasting to start and then dinner in the dinning room. All four of us ordered different things and we all enjoyed our meals. Service was great and will plan on coming back.

Great find! Excellent service and the food was terrific. The lamb chops and duck were great entrees. Good cocktail and wine lists, also.

Creekside jacks was very good. I got the green fried tomato BLT and it was excellent. The decor was very well done. Overall, we had a great experience.

This was our first time eating there. The food was excellent! The staff was really nice. They has fun cocktails, with plenty of selections! We will definitely be going back in the future!!
