Grande Dame opened its doors on the ground floor of a historic neoclassical building on Nikis Street, which was once an inn and later housed the Old Athens tavern. Its interior was gutted, renovated and acquired a different style. The old tile under your feet is more than a century old. The tables are spread across three rooms, with various lamps - some vintage, some more modern – paintings of ladies, and vases of fresh flowers. Gloria Gati is the new restaurant of chef George Papakostas who jokingly refers to Gloria as the older sister of Vittoria Gati, another famous restaurant of his in Glyfada. Gloria is located in a historic building in the Athens center just 50 meters from Syntagma square. It is defined by an eclectic vintage design in a very cosy space where the pizza oven takes center stage. The bar serves award winning cocktails and over 100 wines from Greece and around the globe. The menu is Italian with a focus on homemade pasta and quality meats. The pizza is made from a 1937 sourdough and baked in a traditional oven imported from Naples. Some of the signature dishes include the steak tartare, arancini bolognese, the raviolo cacio pepe, the reginette al tartufo for truffle lovers as well as pollo francese and the ossobuco which is cooked for 12 hours. A tiramisu is a must here accompanied by a single estate espresso. Outside seating is available all year round in the courtyard of St George church

    Totalmente recomendado, desde la excelente atención de personal, la vista a la acrópolis o a Zeus Olímpico y una gran sazón en la cena. Si estás por Atenas y quieres pasar un buen momento en pareja, es ideal.

    Excelente en todos sentidos. Magnífica comida, servicio amable y atento, súper eficiente. Buscábamos conocer de vinos griegos especiales y su oferta y orientación al respecto fué de primer nivel. Por cuestión de tráfico, no alcanzamos a llegar a la reserva de la cata de vino que habiamos reservado. Muy amablemente, nos organizaron una cena-maridaje personalizada que francamente resultó aún mejor. Por si faltaran ventajas, precio muy accesible y la vista de la Acrópolis desde la terraza cerrada, hicieron una noche perfecta. Si está uno en Atenas, no hay que perderse una visita. Gracias por sus atenciones.
