Modern Barn is the restaurant you book when you want the night to feel as good as the skiing. Set in a restored 1890 barn just minutes from Sunday River, it blends ski-town comfort with cellar-level credibility. Candlelight, high beams, and a room built for lingering, not rushing. The kitchen is run by owner-chef Michael, who still butchers every steak in-house. Ribeyes and filets arrive with the kind of sear and seasoning you expect from a serious steakhouse. Thai chili cauliflower is a fan favorite. Fresh oysters, scallop risotto, and local fish “your way” give depth without feeling fussy. Modern Barn drinks like a wine bar with something to prove. The Wine Spectator award list runs deep, with 175+ bottles and all available by the glass. Martinis have become a local ritual, Service runs on neighborly instinct.     It was our 1st experience eating here and it did not disappoint! We had excellent service and loved the new look and vibe inside this restaurant. My family party of six enjoyed several different dishes, the cedar plank salmon was delicious, both my daughter and I appreciated it cooked until soft and not dry. My husband tried the shrimp and grits and loved the smoky flavors. The others tried the scallops and pasta dishes, all were great! Overall, we found this be be a wonderful new place for the area.

    Our second visit to Ember tonight - amazing food and service. Our waiter Spenser was great - the Chef just perfect. Will be returning. 👍 Upscale food and service - but casual relaxing atmosphere Ember is quickly becoming one of our favorite places to dine while at our home at Sunday River Resort . .     Great food and excellent service!steak tips were delish and my son loved the pork tenderloin. Only bummer was half of the desserts were sold out by the time we got to order- we all loved our second choices.
