We've been serving the people of Braintree and beyond since 2015 and in that time have humbly become ‘one of Essex’s best restaurants.’ We have received recognition from the AA, having been awarded an AA Rosette for ‘culinary excellence’ for five consecutive years, and then in 2023 we received our second rosette, putting the restaurant amongst the top 10 restaurants in Essex. Our food is of course one of our main focuses, but we don’t just stop there. Attentive, relaxed and friendly service is as important as the food and our objective is to make your visit an enjoyably memorable one. Our exceptional wine supplier, Peter Watts Wines (based up the road in Coggeshall) allows us to offer you delicious wines of an exceptional quality.     I had an absolutely wonderful experience at The House by Hilly Gand — a place where elegance meets culinary artistry. I chose this restaurant for a romantic evening, and it exceeded every expectation. The main course — Fillet Steak Potatoes Crispy Kale Creme Fraiche was exceptional. The beef was tender and perfectly cooked, paired beautifully with the soft, delicate texture of the potato pasta. Every bite was a delightful combination of flavor and finesse. The ambiance was truly special: warm, dim lighting that created an intimate setting, and soft background music that added just the right touch of romance. Every detail was thoughtfully curated to enhance the experience. I highly recommend The House to anyone looking for a refined atmosphere, exquisite food, and unforgettable moments. I will definitely return!
