Nestled on the waterfront in Irvington, New York, Red Hat on the River is an American modern bistro serving satisfied diners since 2003. There's hardly a seat in the house that does not offer a spectacular view of the Hudson river. Banquettes and a pewter bar accent the space while the walls of this 100-year old renovated factory building are adorned with WPA-era art evoking a feeling of a turn of the century Parisian bistro. Evolving from a humble bistro on main street to a bustling restaurant on the river with a rooftop bar, Red Hat's commitment to providing the very best experience for their guests has always remained the same. Try the classic menu standards of steak frites, moules frites, country terrine, and the Red Hat burger. Seasonal salads, sandwiches, and seafood entrees round out the menu. The bar offerings of creative craft cocktails, local draft beer, and old world style wines complete the experience. Private events range from corporate dinners to weddings.

• Mediterranean • Northvale
Booked 15 times today
From its humble beginnings in the quaint Hudson River town of Piermont, New York, Olar was known for serving up rustic Neapolitan pies, classic Spanish tapas, and hand crafted pastas that drew in both locals and foodies from all parts of New Jersey, upstate New York, and New York City and kept them coming back for over a decade. Now in its new location in Northvale, New Jersey, the restaurant, now known as Olar Noso - which means "our home" in Galego, the language spoken in Galicia where the Dominguez family is from - is an evolution in not only name alone. They have managed to scale the restaurant concept generously while replicating the quality and preserving the reputation the former Olar had garnered over the years. Evolving into Olar Noso meant giving Olar's loyal customers everything they loved, while also enhancing their experience with more seating, more elbow room, a full bar, a private event space, and, finally, ample parking.

Open for lunch and dinner, MP Taverna’s accessible, Greek-inspired menu brings Psilakis’ Greek fare into the American culinary lexicon and is another step towards the chef’s goal of putting Greek cuisine on the culinary main stage.

We had a wonderful dinner. We were celebrating our daughter’s 18th birthday. She and nine friends were at one table while my husband and I were at another. The staff was gracious and the service was wonderful. Billy was our waiter. He made sure our daughter and guests were well cared for. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal!

My wife and I shared the fish sandwich, which is one of their specials - fried flounder with tartar sauce and a slaw on wonderful portuguese bread. For $34 it's pricy but large enough (and delicious enough) for two people! Tonight one of the specials was a chickpea fritter with a fennel pollen yogurt - so creative and so good. Other appetizers were excellent as well - the caesar and duck liver cannoli. One of my absolute favorite restaurants - just really creative, excellent food.
