The first Oven Restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Lincoln, has been around since 1988 and owned/operated by a dedicated family of chefs who have been creating Indian cuisine for over twenty seven years. The Oven Restaurants specialize in Northern Indian Cuisine which is known for its rich colors, flavor profiles and a unique style of cooking in a clay oven, called the Tandoor. Chicken, shrimp and lamb marinate for several hours in a yogurt and spice mixture and placed on skewers while various breads are being hand made by our chefs fresh each day. The skewers and breads are then placed in the tandoor over an open flame where breads are cooked to perfection and the rich flavors are sealed in to ensure tenderness and quality of the meat.     Their beignets are so delicious! I always enjoy their quiche and soups. My husband said his brunch burrito was very good. We were seated near a very loud group of 4 women, once they left the noise level was so much more pleasant. We love dining at this long time local treasure!

    The overall ambiance was great! There was 4 of us, so we paid $60 for a reservation and was kicked out after 2 hours. We went there specifically to see a friend who was the entertainment. We got our reservations 2 weeks in advance trying to get a time slot as close to when our friend was starting to play and sing. We gave up our table since we were told to give it up. We stood for about 15ish minutes and our table sat empty. Frustrating!

    We were celebrating my husbands birthday and requested a table near the fireplace, as it is a very cozy spot. They accommodated our wish and it was the perfect spot. The hostess was very pleasant and our server Daniel was excellent. Overall a very nice evening. The dining room is rustic but yet elegant and cozy. Food is good. We are repeat customers and will continue to celebrate special occasions there and recommend to others.
