Restaurants near Courtyard Rochester East / Penfield

It’s twice now that we have been at Next Door to explore the newly designed menu; and it’s twice that we have been absolutely delighted by the food, service, and overall experience. The first time was in November where our server Alex help guide us through the new menu choices; deftly helping us select the right items (we are a little picky when it comes to seafood). Tonight we had the joy of having Laura as our server. She help us to explore different aspects of the menu and specifically helped us pair our beverage selections to the food (especially the Chardonnay which I have come back to loving because of Next Doors lightly oaked options). The overall culinary experience was exquisite. Give their new menu a try. You won’t regret it.

Dinner for 2 on a Friday night at Amore was excellent. Our server Jordyn took very good care of us throughout our time at Amore. Started with an Italian Old Fashioned and the Fried Calamari, both were perfect. It's real easy to screw up calamari and these were very delicate and served with greens and deep fried Peppadews. We chose the Chicken Cutlet and Herbed Risotto special, again excellent. We live in downtown Rochester and Amore is just a 5 minute drive which is great, especially during the winter. Highly recommended.

We dined on a Wednesday evening, and the restaurant was nearly empty, so it’s hard to judge the noise level. However, the food was outstanding, the ambience was warm and lovely (much better than it looks in the photos online!), and our server was highly attentive, knowledgeable, and gracious. We had Caesar salads—one of the best I’ve had in a long time— lobster and shrimp mac & cheese, and street corn. The side dishes are huge! We ended up taking so much food home that there was enough for three more meals. I would highly recommend that the restaurant halve the portions and bring the prices down. It would’ve been nice to sample more dishes, but our bill would have been astronomical. Nevertheless, a wonderful dining experience in ROC!

Wonderful food. The atmosphere is great in the bar area and the first room upstairs.
