This is our 3rd visit here. The service is excellent and the food is superb. I had the chilli prawns and lamb byriani, both of which were excellent. My partner had lamb kebabs and Gian fish curry. We drive for an hour just to have lunch here. Please keep doing what you’re doing, it’s fabulous.

I stumbled across the Dorset Arms while in the area and what caught my eye straight away was the sight of oysters on the menu, not something you expect from a traditional pub tucked away in the middle of Sussex. Naturally, curiosity (and a love of good seafood) led me in. I was genuinely impressed. The Mersey oysters were outstanding, fresh, briny, and as good as any I’ve had. In fact, I usually swear by the oysters at Smiths in Wapping, which are hard to top, but these were right up there. To start, I had the Padron peppers, which were perfectly blistered with just the right touch of salt. For my main, the flat chicken really delivered, juicy, full of flavour, and nicely glazed. If I had to nitpick, the accompanying salad could have used a little more variety, maybe some cherry tomatoes or peppers for a pop of colour and texture. The wine list was a pleasant surprise too. I started with a white that paired beautifully with the oysters, then switched to a rosé that was dangerously easy to drink. The staff were polite, the atmosphere relaxed, and the food far exceeded expectations. If you are anywhere near the area, the Dorset Arms is absolutely worth a visit, especially if you’re an oyster lover. Highly recommended.

It was lovely to be back at my wedding venue to show my friend around. The food was good, however the cakes and bread for the sandwiches were slightly on the drier side and the bread used for the cream cheese and cucumber had been cut with the crust left on from what seemed like very basic white bread, which I wouldn’t expect from somewhere like this. The cakes also didn’t match what was on the menu. I don’t think I got my baileys and espresso cheesecake which I was really looking forward to. A shame, as I had a lovely afternoon tea here back in 2023 and was expecting the same quality today but unfortunately it fell a little flat this time.
