Fantastic meal and service from Christine! Reasonably priced and only fine dining in the area with fresh, high quality ingredients. Great bottle of Russian River Chardonnay. All pastas homemade. The salad and focaccia that comes with the meal is worth raving about. Highly recommend the PEI mussels, veal piccata, and tortellini with shrimp. They only have 15 tables and book out far in advance.

This was our first dining experience in Wausau. Van Acre's was recommended by the staff at Courtyard. It was a great recommendation. We arrived a few minutes early, so we waited in the lobby. When our table was ready, they seated us at a table for two with a busy walkway beside us. It was also noisier than we desired. We asked to be moved and the manager checked to see if a booth would become available. We waited just a few minutes and had a great experience. Our waitress, who was engaged, was outstanding. She was pleasant and offered great recommendations. She was attentive, but not hovering. Everyone made this dining experience wonderful. We both had the tomahawk pork chop which was very good and highly recommended.

SHOUT OUT Spent a wonderful evenings with two very good friends celebrating their wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to William’s Pine Gables in Eagle River, a first for sll four of us we and had one of the best meals up here since North Star Lodge closed. Service was excellent and all entries were exceptional. They pretty much want you make a reservation and they keep their numbers at a level that is not crowded and they are able to assure a fine dinning experience. Highly recommended. We will go back.
