The Black Bull Inn, Moffat is an independently owned, award winning Scottish hostelry, established 1568. We visited with guests from the US, one of whom was celebrating during a birthday tour. They both loved the food, the presentation, the service and the authenticity of the Burns experience. We presented her with a small edition of Burns poetry and we made memories not to be forgotten.

The restaurant is ok. There’s little option for good food in dumfries and this restaurant is one of the better ones. Nice that they haven’t crammed too many tables in.

I really enjoyed Rickerby Retreat and found the food and drink to be of high quality. Burgers and Falafel Wraps we’re key winners here - both very fresh, juicy and delicious. The ambience is very pleasant too and lovely views of the park but can get cooler on the terrace at a night and a little spooky with limited lighting. Service is acceptable - lacks personalisation and took a little while at times but still not terrible. Value was okay too.
