We recently celebrated our daughter’s 15th birthday with a quiet family dinner at Roku Den in Torquay, and it was lovely. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. The service was warm, attentive, and thoughtful without ever feeling over the top. The staff were so friendly and made the evening feel special. What really touched us was the beautiful surprise they had prepared for Zara, a handwritten birthday note waiting on the table, and later in the evening, a few mochi desserts served with candles for her to blow out. It was such a kind and thoughtful gesture, and it made her feel so special. And the food… just next level delicious! Every dish we ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour, everything was prepared with care and skill. We left feeling so grateful for such a special experience. Quite simply the best dining experience I've ever had, in Torquay or anywhere. The restaurant owners and staff are clearly hospitality professionals who made my daughter feel so special on her birthday. The food is outstanding, and the service exceptional. We had older people with us whose demands were met with patience and understanding, and teenagers whose noise levels were thoughtfully accommodated by our table placement, ensuring other patrons were not disturbed. Nothing was too much trouble, including the lit birthday candles, singing and photos. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
