There’s a mysterious, secretive feel to this restaurant tucked away inside a historic house, which sits surrounded by amber jewellers in the heart of the Old Town. The name of our restaurant, Mercato, signifies the trade route of Pomerania – via Mercatorum, which historically connected Gdańsk with Southern Poland. Our menu combines local and seasonal products with culinary trends from around the world, using the latest techniques. The four symbols which inspire our menu are rooted in history – the broad bean grain, planted by the Pomeranians in e, the noble Baltic salmon, the ‘Fagas’ which was a large Pomeranian sheep bred on Zulawy, and finally the duck, used as a symbol of birds bred for centuries in Pomerania.

Our meal at this restaurant was probably the best one we had during our week in Gdansk. The food was amazing, the service was superb, and the ambience was lovely. The menu is small as the chef bases the menu on the best available ingredients. There was an excellent selection and we enjoyed every bit of our dinner.

Food, service, wine were all what a Michelin starred restaurant should be and then you have that spectacular view!!! My favorite dish was the one that sounded the most underwhelming: potatoes and pasta - every bite under that parmesan foam was a revelation. About USD$300 per person wine the special wine pairing, but worth the splurge!
