Influenced by the culture of sip-a-little-bit-of-this-and-eat-a-little-bit-of-that, Tapavino began in August 2012 as Australia’s first Sherry Bar in Sydney, in a little lane-way not unlike something you would find in the cobblestoned alleyways of Spain. Masuya Restaurant is located in a building, which has been designated as a cultural asset, on O’Connell Street in Sydney. This is the same place as the office of Kanematsu Gosho, the pioneer of Australia – Japan trades, was situated in 1980. Masuya Restaurant opened in 1993, then full renovation was implemented in 2006.The approx. five meters long sushi counter, designed by architect Robert Toland in ‘kabuki red’ with an idea of the stage of kabuki, has since fascinated not only local Australian customers but also various people with different backgrounds.A showcase displays more than 20 different sushi ingredients everyday including locally produced fish, which is purchased on the day. Other carefully selected ingredients are wagyu beef, free-range pork, and seasonal vegetables. Specially designed tableware of Malcolm Greenwood and tables made of Tasmanian Oak is also creating a great atmosphere. Enjoy your time in this amazing space of hospitality.

    From the moment you step in, the experience was spot on. Friendly greeting, great vibe and fantastic music. Not cheap but this is either a treat night or something for the corporate crew. Would recommend going easy on the starters as they are generous and very filling or just go with starters only.

    Agnolotti pumpkin pasta was absolutely delicious! We ordered two servings and so thankful that we did . Cotoletta Bolognese is another standout dish that I always order when I come to the Neptune Grotto. We particularly enjoyed the wonderful and attentive service provided by the team. Great selection of wine and what a great place for a dinner with friends. Highly recommend it to anyone!

    We have dined at Balcon a number of times this year and we are always impressed by the food and service. We have chosen the set menus and have definitely been full at the end of our meal. We’ll be back and the various friends who have dined with us have all enjoyed the at Balcon.
