Believed to date back to the 17th century the Horse & Groom was originally used to house local farmer workers, with the increase in horse drawn traffic using the old Hastings Road the property was utilised to offer weary travellers a place to rest and stable their horse ready for their onward journey. It then, and has to this date, become known as the Horse and Groom . Free of tie, the pub now offers the traditional country pub fair, set in the glorious surroundings of Rushlake Green, with its picturesque village properties encircling the village green, centre of the villages attraction and host to many winter and summer events. Fabulous atmosphere with live jazz music. Sunday roast was amazing and great value. Service perfect. We were looking out of the window onto a sunny beautiful beach. Great way to spend a Sunday !!!

We dined on a very quiet Wednesday evening in this delightfully renovated inn. I'm sure it would be heaving during the day especially at weekends as there were lots of areas outside overlooking the views. Our server was great and we were all pleased with our food having struggled to decide which of the appetizing choices to go for. We hope to go back for a return visit soon.

Again we had a very nice Sunday Roast,it’s an hour to drive but is well worth it, the portions are a good size and maybe one day we will get to a desert, definitely worth a stop by.
