From building society, to bank, to BEAR – this ornate old banking hall site on Derby’s Iron Gate stood empty and forgotten for 9 long years… until we came along.BEAR Iron Gate, Derby sits slap-bang in the centre of the city’s iconic and beautiful Cathedral Quarter; the original hotspot for high-quality food and drink. Opening in 2017 following the success of our Uttoxeter store, the progression to Derby seemed natural for BEAR, as our two founders spent a lot of time in the city as teens, so they have loads of fun memories attached to the place.

The structure is traditional but the Decor is very, very modern. Great service, they gently accommodated us when noticing that we came with a dog. Food is as good as before (last visited 6 years ago) while the menu has been revamped to accommodate modern taste. Will definitely come back!
