Landmark Restaurant - The Warwick Melrose Hotel Dallas Ratings and Reviews
Were a little short staffed on our Sunday morning for brunch. Had reservations, but still needed to wait about 10 minutes to be sat. Then another 10 minutes to be approached by our waiter. Food was good though, and service was nice. Just needed some help this particular morning.
We dropped our son off at college and found the restaurant on Open Table. There were only two other tables eating with us so the service was great. The food very good. On the way out we stopped in The Library, the bar attached to the hotel. The live music was playing and the place was crowded.
We went to celebrate our ninth wedding anniversary as well as our guests were celebrating their one month anniversary of getting married.
We just happened to dine during DFW Restaurant Week. The menu was fantastic. Lobster Thermador, Beef Fillet and a Lamb Shank. Everyone truly enjoyed their meals. Dessert was great, also. We also support the North Texas Food Bank, so the coincidence was greatly appreciated.
Years ago, my wife and I went to the Landmark for dates, and then special occasions with our family. It was wonderful. But our recent visit was different; we really miss the white tablecloths, the grand drapes, the exceptional service, and other touches that made it feel special. Still a good meal, but not quite the place it used to be.
We made a Mother's Day reservation for 4 for Mother's Day through Open Table, which the restaurant called back to confirm. We then increased the reservation to 7 with no problem. Everyone at the restaurant, including the telephone operator, the check-in hostess, and all of the waitstaff, were genuinely friendly. The quality, variety and abundance of food provided for our brunch was very good; it was nicely displayed and refreshed often. We were not rushed, and had ample time to enjoy our morning together in their beautiful, elegant facility. Highly recommend.
The Warwick Melrose Hotel Easter Buffet seems to get smaller every year. Some of the food was very good; but, much of it was mediocre. They never have fresh rolls; always at least a day old and it is evident in the taste and texture of all their breads. The "Landmark Butter" whipped with granulated sugar is just too much; please give us back REAL butter and make the Breads and Rolls FRESH, early morning of the Holiday. DAY OLD BREAD is NEVER sold in stores; but, given away to the poor and starving. At a cost of $70.00 per person, plus the automatic added 20% tip for a waitress that was the only one in the Library Room and the taxes; a bill of almost $200.00 does seem a bit ridiculous for 2 individuals that just want to dress up pretty for Easter!
I'm sad to say it was a very unfortunate first time experience. We were seated at a small two top that was barely inside the main entrance... the "after thought" table that shouldn't exist in restaurant of this caliber. Promptly given water by our hostess, we proceeded to wait close to 10 minutes before being greeted by one of the 4 different people that had walked by and noticed us. Finally, a gentleman came by who said he was our waiter and proceeded to offer us champagne (which we accepted) and then he left for another 5 minutes having not reviewed the menu or said anything at all.
We got up to leave and attempted to at least tell the hostess... who was no where to be found. While waiting for the valet to return our vehicle, I went back inside to again try and tell them that we were leaving... I saw no one... no hostess, no waiter, no manager - just a room full of diners whom I fear were sadly experiencing the same lack of attention and care that we chose to leave behind.
Additionally, on our way to one of the other many options in Dallas - we opted to call the restaurant and explain what had happened leaving our names and numbers. We have yet to get a call back.
From start to finish - there is a complete lack of attention and care for making things excellent and right. While I am usually willing to give anyone a second chance, when you choosing to spend your time, energy, and money on a quality experience - and that is your first showing... you don't get that second chance. Dallas is too full of other wonderful opportunities.
Thank goodness for the valet - The only attentive people who offered concern and apologies for that evening.
Have been there for the last 3-4 years for Christmas lunch/brunch. This year the selection and variety of food was much less and the quality seemed not to be up to the standard from the previous years. The price did not reflect the quality from previous years. The staff is great as always, not an issue. Probably will not return next year. Feel it is overpriced for the what one gets in return.
