Landmark Americana-West Chester Ratings and Reviews
Was looking for a casual dinner early on New year's Eve. Was relatively quiet at 5:30 but grew much noisier by 6:30. Service and food were good overall. The baby back ribs were really tender and tasty.
Compared to other restaurants on the strip in West Chester, Landmark's prices were about average. Good value for West Chester.
Don’t think they were staffed well for the groups going out for Christmas lunches. Our waitress had our table of 6 and a very large party and there was another party in the downstairs area. Our waitress did her best but we waited a long time for drinks and overall slower then previous experiences. I had asked for a side of ranch which never came, found a bone in my chicken bacon wrap, and a special vegan order was made wrong and had to be remade. Not the usual service we have been use to there so very disappointing Christmas Work lunch.
Had evening diner with my wife and a five year old daughter. Restaurant was nice decor for a bar and grill and was fine for my daughter. Staff was very friendly and accommodating for my daughter (extra napkins etc. and she had food allergies). Braised Rib chili was excellent as was the seafood bisque. Tuna tacos were nothing special (wish I had tried the rib tacos) but my wife's Ahi Tuna salad looked tasty.
Always a great location for business lunches or dinners, our only complaint was that there was a trivia night on Tuesday when we were there and it got so loud we couldn't hear each other across the table. Food is always good though and drink specials are great.
Service and ambience were nice but the food was not good! First of all, we were looking forward to enjoying brunch, the brunch menu on open table looked good. However, when we got to the restaurant they said they haven't served brunch in over a year. To make things worse, they were out of everything with short ribs and I believe fish. We were not happy with most of the food we ordered. The chicken cheesesteak was made with huge tough pieces of shredded chicken which was not enjoyable. The mild buffalo sauce on the chicken tenders was much more similar to ketchup than any buffalo sauce I've ever tried, even the ranch dressing couldn't cover up how terrible it was!
Always a go-to spot for fun Happy Hour events with people at work as well as business lunches. I like that even when busy, this restaurant doesn't get so loud you are shouting at the people at your own table like many restaurants in WC. Great food, never a complaint!
The food we sampled on our first visit here was somewhat disappointing. We knew going in that it was more or less "bar food", which was true. However, the quality could have been better. We suspect it was more due to the preparation rather than the ingredients so it could then be chalked up to an off night. The main problems were the sandwiches were dry and the appetisers were not hot which meant they could just have been sitting around in the kitchen too long. Apart from that the place is pleasant, service accommodating, and the bill, including wine and beer was surprisingly inexpensive for this area. We will probably give it another shot in a bit.
Our server, a female bartender, was very attentive and welcoming and engaging with our kids. Food was average and craft beer was served way too cold. We like the upbeat, sports bar vibe and above average sound level helps the kids be kids and us not have to constantly quiet them down. Recommend for everyday family dining and great bar scene for live sports later without the kids.
Having dined at the Landmark in University City, I'm happy to report I was pleasantly surprised by its West Chester cousin. Tasty fare combined with pleasant and prompt service make for a great afternoon outing from the office. We were able to have a quiet conversation at the height of the lunch hour. And I was stuffed for hours. The tuna tacos are NOT to be missed! Nor are the garlic-parm fries!
We had a reservation for a special occasion. When we arrived most tables were empty but we were seated at an ok table near the door. Our waitress service was friendly and welcoming, very efficient. We enjoyed our soup and appetizers. I recommend the Brussels sprouts as tasty and done to perfection. We both chose the cheesesteak and were disappointed in the choice of bread for this sandwich. It is served on a wide Italian style bread rather than the traditional Italian roll, so way too much bread. I would choose a different entree or sandwich next time because I have had much better meals on past visits.
Although it was not busy for a Thursday night, they sat the 3 of us in an awkward bench type seat. We asked to move to a table with now problem. I was looking forward to a Fat Tire draft beer but they were out of it. Went with Hoegaarten instead. Appetizer split 3 ways was excellent, short rib nachos. There were 3 entres ordered, harvest salad, pulled pork sandwich, and half rack of ribs. The salad and pulled port sandwich were great. I asked for mashed potatoes instead of roasted potatoes with the ribs. Of course they forgot and took the plate back for replacement. After several minutes they returned with replacement. The potatoes and asparagus were fine. The ribs were beyond burnt. It seems they were cooked so long, all of the meat was singed. It was the worst cooked meat I was ever served at a restaurant, I could not eat any of it. I did not want to embarrass my kids as they hate when I return anything and complain. I hate to say that I will never return there again. The food was hit or miss in the past but never like this. I find it appalling that the cook would send it out this way. The half rack was so small and burnt it even looked disgusting. It ruined my night as I look forward to having dinner with my kids each week in West Chester. The lack of food quality explains why it was not busy on a Thursday night. There are so many better places to eat in West Chester so avoid this place.
What better way to spend the day with my son and mom, but by going to lunch, catching up and having great food. I had the Cobb salad, which was HUGE, fresh and crisp, my Mom had the fish and chips, and they were delicious. Lightly battered, crispy outside and hot and tender inside. Did not have a "fishy" smell at all. My son had a bacon cheeseburger, and it was cooked to perfection. Sweet potato fries with the cinnamon butter were delicious! Always a good time and good meal at Landmark. And, our server Jamie was very attentive but not overbearing. Will definitely come back!
The last few times we've gone, the food quality is not as good (for example, I got the rib chili nachos when I went last week, and the tortilla chips were quite stale), and the service is bordering on awful - waiting for 1/2 an hour for the check, etc. There are other restaurants that are pulling from the same pool of students at West Chester Univ, and they are not having the consistent poor service issues that this place does (example, Iron Hill's waitstaff is ALWAYS excellent; prompt and courteous). I'm going to wait for a while before going back; hopefully management changes, as I am assuming that is the problem.
Landmark Americana in West Chester is our favorite "Go To" place for informal dining.
The down side is no matter when or what day we dine, service is always abysmally slow.
Even when we've finished dessert and are waiting for our check.
The up side that keeps us coming is the menu. It is always superb, no matter
what you order.
The problem with Landmark West Chester is that it's in a big college town and you get little girls as
servers who are more interested in chatting at the bar end of the establishment and less in
providing dining patrons with good dining service.
The Landmark Mainline in Strafford is nothing like the West Chester restaurant. Upscale service
as well as dining.
