We feature a "scratch kitchen", a great bar featuring the finest spirits, a list of craft-style classic cocktails and a smart wine list. In addition, the Normandy Kitchen provides all food and beverage service within the Normandy Hotel, including room service, private dining and banquet service.

The Normandy Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
They made us wait 20 minutes for our reservation in a half-empty restaurant. They said they were down one waitress but the service was slow from start to finish. The martini was bad and food was mediocre. The restaurant in the first floor of a hotel is a charming, cozy atmosphere, but that's the best I can say about the experience.
My guest and I were very disappointed. We went for the Thanksgiving dinner. The portions were small and overpriced. It was served family style. The dressing was more like dried bread crumbs. We received 2 small slices of ham and 2 small slices of white meat turkey. There were a few bits of dark meat turkey on the plate also. The popovers were overcooked and dry and the small pat of butter we received for the 2 popovers was not enough for 1 let alone 2. The waiter suggested pecan pie for dessert. It was so sticky it stuck to my teeth. I had to go home and brush my teeth to stop them from sticking together. I will not be going back there.
Comfort food with a French influence. Calamari ("veg-free!") with aioli and marinara was crispy and tender. Both the Duck 3-ways and Steak au Poivre entrees were great. Poached beet salad with chevre, walnuts & fig vinaigrette was nicely assembled, and the salad nicoise was substantial. We dined on Jazz Night - Travis Anderson Trio played. Very enjoyable evening.
This place is always a pleasant stop. Don’t be dissuaded by the fact that it’s attached to a Best Western - it has a LOT of history. Food is satisfying and from scratch. Good cocktails, AND best of all, popovers, which are a great treat anytime. Parking is easy in the hotel lot on the back side. (Bring your ticket in to get it validated...)
Typical French bistro menu with small tables and lively bar scene. Service was friendly but slow and mostly inattentive. Steak frites arrived with almost cold meat and overly salted frites that made them inedible. Steak was sent back to be warmed but with backward glare from waitress. Really?... Meatloaf was okay. Calamari were also overly salted. Shrimp cocktail flavorful and nicely chilled. Cheese platter had good selection of 5 cheeses, 3 U.S.and 2 French with okay accompanimentsof jams and walnuts. Espresso was weak and tepid.
Expensive evening, and would not recommend overall.
Frankly, this place was a disappointment. The servings were good sized, but average in color, taste and presentation. It was an unusually busy night for a Monday, and only 2 servers had to cover both rooms, so half the meal was spent waiting for food, and trying to contact the waitress.
Absolutely wonderful! I haven’t been amazed by a restaurant for a while. But the service and chefs at Normandy Kitchen wowed me. Doug, the bartender, was my server. I made a late lunch reservation. He was helpful, friendly, and real. He made a recommendation for the appetizer that was spot on. I came to try out the Restaurant Week menu. I hadn’t been there before and wouldn’t have gone except for Restaurant Week. The salad was deliciously savory, and I don’t even like salads. I had duck for the first time and have fallen in love. My husband always orders duck, so I can’t wait to bring him back to try it. I have a lot of friends who work downtown and I’m spreading the word. I took my time to enjoy every bite. Thank you for a very memorable meal.
I've eaten at The Normandy Kitchen several times over the years when in Minneapolis for various events. The food has always been consistently good and did not disappoint this last visit. We shared the mussels, which were cooked perfectly, and the wine sauce was divine. The only criticism of the meal was the inability to substitute a different vegetable for the Broccoli Rabe in my boyfriend's dish - the meatloaf (which was very, very good by the way). He's not a fan of green vegetables and while carrots are offered in another dish on the menu, only asparagus or Brussel sprouts were offered as an alternative. A larger serving of mashed potatoes was ultimately the solution. This was fine but it was a bit disappointing. California sea bass was the special of the night and it was very good, prepared nicely and, while a bit salty, the flavor was excellent. I want to especially point out the exceptional service our waitress provide. While seating us, the hostess said they had been exceptionally busy that evening and were rather unprepared for it with only one server on staff. We weren't in any hurry so we weren't overly concerned. I wish I could remember our waitress's name because she was an absolute delight. She could easily have been stressed and frazzled but she was anything but. She was upbeat and very engaging and the wait really wasn't any longer than expected. All in all a terrific meal at an extremely reasonable price. Don't overlook The Normandy Kitchen because it's a "hotel restaurant". You will enjoy a better meal here, at a far better price, than many of the other downtown establishments.
We spent over 30 minutes in 5 pm rush hour trying to figure out how to get into the parking lot.
Very frustrating. It would have been helpful if the website provided the information. Food excellent . .as the server became busy with other tables, had to ask twice for more bread.
Ours was a Sunday birthday lunch. We were the only ones in the dining space. They validate parking as they are in the Best Western Hotel. Very clean. Now to the yummy food...as recommended we had the popovers they were beautiful and delicious.
We also enjoyed the calimari, the veal and spinach meatloaf and the wild mushroom

The Normandy Kitchen is a hidden gem in downtown Minneapolis! We have been coming here for a couple of years and have had a great experience each time. Excellent service, delicious food and wonderful cocktails. The popovers are super yummy! You should really come here.
enjoyed listening to Maurice Jacox trio beautiful jazz while eating dinner in the bar. Friendly environment ... good food. There are a few outdoor tables and big windows in the bar that open out to make you feel like you're outside. Nice place for date night.
Although we have dined out weekly for 20+ years in Minneapolis, this was our first meal at this restaurant. We were both impressed by the quality of the food. They offer a good mix of French and American options. For appetizers, we had a giant popover with maple butter, and a charcuterie platter of home prepared cheeses, meats, and a creamy fois gras pate with breads that was amazing. For mains crab cakes and a really good hamburger. Portions were so large, could not manage deserts. For drinks their Apple Cider Sangria was perfect. Ambiance was a funky mix reminiscent of cafes around the Sorbonne area in Paris and old Minneapolis. Service was efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. Tab really reasonable. Easy parking. Will definitely be back.
The lunch meal was delicious. The place is very nice and so were the wait staff. I had made reservations there because someone who reported to me was retiring and didn't want a big to do over it. So I took her to the Normandy Kitchen for lunch. She enjoyed the lunch and the food she had ordered. I think it is a great place to eat at. I've been there a few times before for lunch and dinner.
Food was good; the beniets were a perfect way to start brunch. Cafe miel was made well.
Our server was not great. It seemed like he was new or very inexperienced. It took a long time to get our food and drinks compared to how busy the restaurant was. Dirty plates were not cleared and he never provided us his name.
I would return if I was in the area but only if I had time to spare.
The food was terrific but we had several wait staffers, one of whom pushed the second course onto the table before we had finished the first course. This irritation marred the otherwise excellent service - friendly but not pushy.
