Landini Brothers Ratings and Reviews
We always enjoy ourselves at Landini Brothers. Wonderful food, wine, service, and ambience in Old Town Alexandria. Cozy and romantic inside in colder months, and wonderful sidewalk dining when the weather permits. Love taking friends and family here for special occasions. Love the daily specials and the veal. Hot tip: best after-dinner coffee EVER!
This was the worst dinning was experience of my life. I take that statement seriously. We didn’t have a server. After siting for 20mins someone told us about the 8 specials (guessing) in 30 seconds. Before we had time to ask questions the person was gone. We were well aware that if we had questions that this person would not be able to answer due to his language barrier. Another 10 minutes passed and we were asked “what do you want.”
Despite a reservation for 2 at 5 pm, we were given a table for 2 in a room that was totally empty and that they were still setting up. Felt like a barn. There were empty tables for two in a cozier room but they would not seat us there. They eventually sat two very large noisy parties in the room we were in. Not a very pleasant dining experience. Food was good.
Landini Brothers is a local classic. The food is always wonderfully prepared, there are a number of nightly specials that change based on seasonal availability. Professional wait staff who really know their menu. It is old town Alexandria, so be prepared to pay $30 for a plate of pasta - that is my only hesitation recommending to certain folks from the price point perspective.
My hubby and I are foodies. We found Landini Brothers through Yelp. Anniversary dinner. Everything was fantastic. One small note was one of our servers seemed distracted, not well, maybe just having a bad night...distracted from attentiveness of service. Otherwise an awesome dining experience!
Very reliable. Good service. Dishes were good. Serving sizes are ample. Ordered a side dish of broccolini which was not on the menu. It was steamed, wilted, cold and without flavor. That did not take away from the overall experience. Everyone in the party of 6 was pleased.
Normally they are hitting on all cylinders - on the plus - food was flavorful for main dishes - agnolotti, salmon and red snapper were all great. But we also ordered the squash blossoms - did not appear to be fresh - maybe prefrozen and not worth ordering- mushy and a bit oily which gave us a rocky start. Service from the main waiter was very slow - he was not attentive to our table at all. (Did not get his name, but younger guy and very tall). By contrast - The water server was great. Just an off night but we will go back and hopefully have our normal great experience.
Delicious southern Italian style cooking—eggplant Parmesan, homemade fettuccine, and wonderfully prepared fish dishes. The daily special was lobster stuffed with crab and shrimp. We enjoyed angliotti, penne a la romana, the eggplant, roasted artichoke and classic salads. Too full for dessert!
Had an excellent dinner with friends. We were seated upstairs in one of the smaller size rooms which made it easier to hear. The food & service were top notch. I esp. enjoyed my veal Landini style dish. Recommend the tiramisu for dessert. Thank you to our waiter, Sam!
Our book group met here. We asked for a quieter spot and they accommodated that request. We had efficient service even though we ended up with 2 different waiters over the evening. We enjoyed pasta dishes mostly - the clams linguine was delicious. As the evening wore on it got a bit more noisy but that is to be expected these days. They were very gracious about our request for separate checks! This was our second time meeting here and I am sure we will again.
Words almost fail me; it was that wonderful. Every element of the evening was fantastic; beautiful dining room, incredibly knowledgeable server, innovative and delicious appetizers and entrees, beautiful wines. We enjoy traveling and fine dining and are out frequently; I can recall similar excellent experiences, but I honestly cannot remember a better experience, ever. Congratulations.
Landini brothers is our favorite restaraunt in the entire world. If they relocated across country, we would have to budget for a few trips out per year. This is how good Landini's is! We celebrate all our big milestones as well as dine with them regularly. When my husbands business partners fly in from out of state, they only want to dine with Landini's for their business dinner meetings. The waiters here have been with Landini's for 10 plus years, so you get the same wonderful service every time. They also get to know you and remember exactly how you like your food. They never cease to amaze me with memorizing the daily specials. (Which is quite lengthy) The food is amazing and pasta is cooked perfectly. The restaraunt itself is dimly lit and makes for a great romantic location. For our anniversary this week, they set the table up with heart confetti in the shape of a big heart and had a nice card at the table for us. All the little special touches makes Landini's a very memorable place to choose for your next dinner. You will not be disappointed!
