Landini Brothers Ratings and Reviews
Party of four, with two visiting from out of town, we had hoped for an al-fresco dining experience with good food. While none of the four dishes were of memorable quality, one pasta was horrible, the most bland sauce with water-logged pasta. After trying a few bites, we called the manager over to take the meal back, all in a polite manner. Imagine the surprise when the check was tendered and the charge was still on there. Manager refused to remove charge, which will ensure I'll never bring another group back to this house of customer service horrors. Two doors down you'll find both better food and better service.
Food TERRIFIC and we love the front room where the bar is. Great for people watching and vibrant atmosphere. Try the spirulina pasta a la carbonara or with seafood.... wowzer! Only place I've found that has it and it's one of the new super foods. Service is tops!
We had a lovely meal at Landini Brothers. Recommended by a local, we decided to give it a try. We were easily able to get a reservation for Saturday on Friday night, we were seated right away, and the service was excellent. I had the lobster pasta special, and the other 2 had veal dishes (rumored to have the best veal in Alexandria)and all were highly satisfied with their meal. The caprese salad was delicious and flavorful, I asked for easy dressing on my caesar salad and did not get it so that was the only less than delicious thing we ate. The waiter was attentive and we had great service. I would definitely go back here.
Way to LOUD. Bad seat outside kitchen, asked to change, was told sorry that's it. Food was just ok, can get as good or better at our local neighborhood joint for half the price. Waiter got drink order wrong, coffee was burnt and dessert was frozen, Other than that, I got to enjoy the company of my wife! Would not return.
My two sisters and I were in Alexandria/DC to celebrate a milestone birthday. We chose Landinis from the internet based on the reviews, the location, the ambience, and the menu. We were pleasantly surprised by the specials for the night, and two of us chose from the special menu listings, Crabcakes and Fried Softshell Crabs. Both were excellent choices. My birthday sister was treated to a dessert and song. The night was fabulous! We could not have picked a better place for the occasion.

This place is strange. The food was OK, nothing special. The service was good. The ambiance was live and fun. When it the place dies down later in the night you could hear the music that they play, which is - classic rock. Pink Flyod and Led Zep - fine with me but very, very strange for this venue.
We had 7:30 reservations and had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. Our table was right beside a station where all the waiters came to put in their orders and ring up checks so we were not real pleased with the location but were told we didn't have any options unless we wanted to wait about a half hour. Oddly, other were seated at better tables shortly after we were seated. Our waiter was OK but didn't seem to have much of a personality. Food was slow in coming but the place was packed so we understood. The food was excellent and the portions were substantial. I'd return to Landini Bros. and would have no problem recommending to others.
I made reservations for my anniversary and requested an upstairs table where my girlfriend and I had our first dinner. The reservation was for 7pm. When we spoke to the hostess at 7pm, they acknowledged they knew our reservation was for the specific table, but were told it would be a couple of minutes to get it ready. Five minutes later, they told us that the table would not be ready for another 20 minutes because a large group had the room where the table was. We decided to take a table that was ready and then waited 10 minutes for a menu. After a tough start, the service, food, and wine was a 7/10. Not sure we'll be going back because of the lack of attention to detail.
My best friend and I went for my birthday celebration dinner. I specified Birthday in my reservation, however there was no mention or recognition of it at the restaurant BY the restaurant. We were seated at a table by the back door which was not pleasant at all. It took forEVER to get a waiter and then it took FOREVER to get our food. I had to ask twice if our server could be sent over, and when he came by, I asked him to please check on our food. We ordered pasta off the regular menu - so it should not have been such a long wait for food. The food itself was good. The bread was warm and fresh. We did not bother to stay for dessert since the meal took so long to get. I was really disappointed.
Landini's remains our favorite Italian restaurant in Alexandria. The ambiance is very nice, the staff are professional and welcoming, and the food is always outstanding. The wine list is very good, there's always something really good by the glass, and always a number of specials that are always delicious. Nice outside tables right on King Street and a bar that's always busy. Dress a little nicer than you might; it's a nice place!
arrived early on a Saturday night for 730 reservation and was seated within 15 minutes of arrival. Waiting at the bar was challenge as it is small and crowded with tables right there so constantly having to avoid servers with food while waiting for table and trying to enjoy a drink.
Always enjoy a trip to LB, and have had many over the years. Downside is never the food and seldom the service -- it's the noise level . The old stone walls are an echo chamber.
By the way, why do Open Table ratings score noise levels as 'moderate' to 'energetic'? Not descriptive, not helpful, and a weak point in assessing a restaurant.
Restaurant could not have been more accomodating. Unfortunately our large (8) party was seated next to another large party that had spent considerable time in the bar prior to being seated. When we requested another table they were able to re-seat us within 10 minutes into a quieter space.
We were visiting my best friend in D.C. over the labor day weekend and went to this restaurant to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary.
We ordered several appetizers, drinks and a bottle of champagne to toast their anniversary.
The food was excellent and the waiters were very attentive.
When told that we were celebrating an anniversary, they brought us a dessert on the house, which was a pleasant surprise.
Would highly recommend this resaurant and hope to be back.
This was my second time dining at Landini Brothers for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed both of my visits. The wine list is quite extensive, and the food is very authentic. I requested a quiet table for two for my husband and I to enjoy my birthday dinner. We were seated upstairs, which is much quieter than downstairs (where I sat on my first visit) where the bar is located. The restaurant is less than two blocks from the waterfront, so I enjoy the location as well. I hope to have the opportunity to dine there again soon.
This has been our third time here. This time we brought my fiancee's parents, who were in town for the long weekend. It was a treat to finally be able to share this wonderful tasting restaurant.
I normally get the same dish, pollo al la Bolognese (which is the most amazing chicken dish have ever come across), but this time one of the nightly specials caught my attention. I had the Lobster pasta, which was incredible. It was rich and full of flavor.
We started with the calamari pesce (one of the best calamari's) and the vinaigrette infusion artichoke ( there was not a lot of flesh and it was a bit if a boring dish).
My fiancee had the veal parm, which is a hefty and yummy dish.
The parenttals had a seafood pasta and a veal chop
First it took 10 minutes to get the waiter's attention for glass of wine. When my date arrive we ordered dinner. I ordered off the menu, my date ordered plain spagetti and meatballs(not on the menu). The food came it was hot and very good. The waiter never returned to ask if the food was ok, to bring us dessert menus, nothing. We sat for 20 minutes after having our table cleared. I finally got up to find a manager told her what was going on; she said I am sorry and promptly made excuses for everything. She then told me when I come back next time I can get a free desert. I told her there wouldn't be a next time. When the check came and I was additionally aggrivated to see they had charged 22.95 for spagetti and meatballs!!!!
Landini's has been a favorite for many years. If you want excellent Italian this is the place to go. Old Town Alexandria has a great jem on King Street. Never been disappointed with the food, service. If you are looking for inexpensive this is not the place but Landini's is worth every penny spent. Everytime I visit Old Town Alexandria, which is about every 8 weeks or so, we stop in for dinner.
Latest dining experience at Landini Brothers (5th visit) was surprisingly marked by below average service. I had to place my initial drink order 4 times; 3 times with our assigned waiter, then finally with a water-pourer just to get it. Ironically, when it arrived, the server had his hands so full that he dropped off the unopened bottle on the table and apologized for being unable to open it because his hands were full and he was so busy. No problem, I was so thirsty at that point I would have drank from the faucet in the kitchen...so opening it myself was easy. The waiter was semi-attentive, but clearly over obligated. As usual, the food was absolutely excellent - credit to the chef and cook staff for whom the waitstaff did not do justice.
