Lancelot Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to Lancelot, although we have been frequent visitors to Vail over the past 29 years. We were pleasantly surprised with the variety of fare. This restaurant is known for prime rib, but the menu offered a wide variety of fish, chicken, salads and inspired specials. Service was excellent, considerate and knew when to leave us alone. Additionally, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, with its uptown smooth music vibe and enough space between tables that we did not hear other conversations while we talked among ourselves. Very well done, no wonder it is a Vail standard. We will be returning in the future.
Delicious, creative appetizers & cocktails, succulent prime rib cooked to perfection, excellent service. Went back on a different night and had the bass. It was excellent. Only small criticism I have is the apple streusal I had for dessert. The apples and filling were dry and pasty. After such an excellent dinner, I expected better. But that's a minor thing. Everything else was excellent and that's why I went back a 2nd time.
We never miss a trip to Lancelot's when we are at Vail. Best prime rib in the valley. Great selection of salads and starters. The King Arthur cut of prime rib and a loaded baked potato will fill the heartiest eater, but save room for dessert--mud pie and delicious apple strudel. Great fun sitting at the front right on top of Gore Creek. We love this place.
We were in Vail for our wedding anniversary and made a reservation to this pretty upscale restaurant .. Our overall experience was quite good, but there were a few "hiccups".
We made the reservation about 2 weeks before but were offered a table that was perfectly located but was a very small 2 top. I had to bicker a bit with the hostess for a seat at a small but more comfortable 4 top, and was eventually accommodated..
Our server was excellent! Food was also quite good but here is the other hiccup.. My pricey ($35) 10 oz. cut of prime rib was not cooked "medium"-- and the cut itself was not very appealing to look at . In retrospect- I should have sent it back but - It tasted good and I did ok with it.. However, a restaurant that features that dish needs to be better than just "Ok " !!
They did surprise us with a lovely complimentary apple tart that was fabulous .. Very nice..
Overall a very nice dining experience ..
Prime Rib is my favorite piece of meat, but it has to be rare, med-rare at the most. Our group was the first table of the night and I ordered rare, never thinking this would be an issue. My meal arrived and the prime rib was med-well well at best. I was shocked. I spoke to the waiter and he graciously brought me another slice. It was med and he said that was the best they could do. For a restaurant that advertises Prime Rib as their specilty, this is unacceptable. I usually am quite clear that I want rare when I order, if not, I will order something else, no problem. The waiter graciously took the prime rib off my tab, and I just ate the lobster tail I had also ordered. The service was impeccable and the desserts amazing!
We had spotted Lancelot while visiting another restaurant the evening prior. Also, we had seen a few ads for Lancelot in some of the Vail publications. We booked through Open Table at the last minute and were so thrilled that they could accommodate our party of 5. We had a wonderful round table in a great location in the restaurant. The menu was great with many different options to satisfy everyone. Our server and the food were wonderful; especially the prime rib that they're known for. We loved the coziness of the restaurant as well as it being open to the outside. Just beautiful - a real find and we will be back! We loved it! Desserts were beautiful and delicious too! I would highly recommend Lancelot!
You know, it just stinks when you don't have your wine or even a glass of water through much of your meal. This place needs more bussers to help the waitstaff. Bar was super slow. Hostess was not nice. Food was ok. Surprised it has 4.5 stars. It was a busy weekend. Perhaps it is normallly better.
Lancelot bills itself as Vail's best prime rib place, and I agree. I had the prime rib medium rare and it was excellent and served right from the kitchen. We sat at a table with an excellent view of Gore Creek which runs through Vail. Service was very good with prompt attention despite a good crowd to take care of. They also have a nice wine list.
Our fav place in Vail when we are there for the GoPro games. Last time we were there before returning home, had a bad experience w/our waitress (not telling us all the items they were out of yet as we would redecide she would THEN tell us they were out). It was a frustrating visit but it will not keep us from returning on our next visit in 6/2018.
I have been visiting Lancelot for over 20 years both alone and with family when my boys were very young until now and have always enjoyed the food, experience and the way we are treated as guests. Without a doubt my favorite place to dine in Vail. The quality of food, service and congeniality of staff never diminishes. My compliments to Werner for continuing and elevating the tradition here.
I had literally not been to the Lancelot for years. Was very pleased with the decor and the food! There were three of us and we had the prime rib, the striped bass and a wonderfully prepared steak. All were perfectly done, as were our appetizers. Our waiter was efficient and attentive and we'll be back!
We have eaten here since late 1980s when we lived in Vail area. After moving away, but returning to ski, we still continued coming to eat their Prime Rib, which we used to find better here than any other place. This time, our meat was tuff, or the knife was dull, hard to cut. The manager did adjust the bill to reflect the tenderness problem.
