L'Amore Ratings and Reviews
Here in Phoenix for a week and we will be back! Was so busy but they gave us a drink so we relaxed outside while waiting for our table. Staff was amazing and the food was probably the best Italian any of us have ate. Personal attention was
Given by all staff members are you really felt a bit special. Definitely the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to, highly recommend!!!
Nope Nope Nope. Ambience was great, service was great. Food was sorely lacking. You don't drench veal salitmbuca in gravy. Any Italian that endorses this place hasn't ever eaten food in Italy. And for those prices?! Not a chance. Olive Garden is a better choice at this point.
Where to start high(low)lights ? Requested patio, but seated on top of a large table in noisy room. Waiter, the cheese goes on the food, not my lap and the wine goes in the glass, not on the tablecloth. Oh, and speaking in a complete sentence might show some personality. Food options were limited Italian and food was average and overpriced for what it was. Wine list slim and priced on the high side. Owner made nasty comment to me when I questioned why patio request couldn't be honored, yet half the patio was empty. Mostly large loud tables in the room. One on top of ours held a long conversation when they arrived, not at the table, but standing right behind us in the less than a foot space between our table and theirs. If you are honored with kindness from the owners by being one of their senior regulars, then this might be worth a second trip, but not for me.
Although we live relatively close and have driven-by about 1,000 times, this was our first visit to L’Amore. We were greeted by the owner, Kim. Both she and her husband were attentive to all guests: regulars were clearly cherished but we were definitely not overlooked as first time guests.
The food (grilled salmon and grouper piccata) was very good. The service from our server, Debbie, and myriad bussers was attentive but not excessive. We shall return!
brought 3 couples who were new to the Phoenix area and looking for good restaurants. L'Amore did not disappoint. Everything was spectacular. Everybody loved their meals from the salad to dessert. The service was outstanding! This is our favorite restaurant in the Phoenix area.
In town from CA and looking for an upscale Italian restaurant with an old school, elegant relaxing environment. L'Amore was outstanding on all levels. Gracious owners Kim and Greg personally introduced themselves and made sure everything was to perfection. Young waiter said he'd been coming there since he was 5 with his parents. He was a superb waiter. The short ribs were lean, falling off the bones with superb meaty red sauce. The stuffed cannelloni was delicious. My wife had the linguini and clams which she ate the entire plate whereas usually leaves half her plate. The clams were in the shell as well as toppled over the entire bed of linguini. The bread was an authentic, fresh and light crispy crust Italian loaf. Absolutely fantastic. Lastly drinks were strong and tasty.
The food was very good with a lot of choices. For some reason the service was spotty. We were escorted to a table, but not given menus for 10 minutes or so, after which the server was extra chatty. After dinner I received an email from Open Table asking why I had not arrived for the reservation, which seemed odd because on checking in & giving my last name, the greeter confirmed my first name.
Excellent all around experience. I have dined here 3 times and they have been consistently great in food, service, and decor.
My only recommendation is that when the owner's visit the table, they should introduce themselves. It makes the experience personal, and much better than "how are you doing?"
I'll be back.
It was a wonderful experience! The welcome to the restaurant, attentive waiter and waitresses, food presentation, the experience. I have been here a couple of times before, and they remembered us! The restaurant can be intimate, bar scene, or outdoor patio! Love the small outdoor area and the indoor dining. I recommend this restaurant for everyone, for a great evening in a food experience, and just a pleasant eating experience.
The service was extremely slow. Seems like the waiters/owners can't handle large crowds. The waiter was very impatient with us. The food was decent, but the crown was 70+ year olds on average (snow birds). The place pretty much cleared out by 9:30-10. We told the waiter that it was a friends birthday and totally forgot her desert. For everyone else in the restaurant, they dimmed the lights, and the waiters sung happy birthday. For us, he just brought it out and said "here you go".
Great Alfredo sauce. Pasta is light and fresh. Server told us the dessert was free for birthdays but still charged us. Tables have little space between them but manageable. Our glasses never ran out of water, they were refilled promptly. Overall I would dine there again.
VERY BAD EXPERIENCE - MOVED THE TABLE 2 TIMES AND I MEAN LITERALLY -- FORGOT WE EXISTED - PART OF MEAL VERY COLD - AS IN VERY COLD - - VERY BUSY WAS EXCUSE - THEY COULD HAVE CARED LESS -- AND WE WERE DEALING WITH THE MANAGER/ OWNER AND THE WIFE WHO WAS THE HOSTESS- NO BIGF APOLOGIES BY EITHER -- - WE ARE NOT FUSSY - BUT WE WERE TREATED WITH TOTAL DISRESPECT AND WE WILL NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN - INTERESTINGLY FRIENDS AND OTHERS WHO WE DID NOT HESITATE TO TELL ABOUT THIS AWFUL EXPERINCE SAID THEY TOO WILL NEVER GO EITHER - YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH - BUSY IS WONDERFUL BUT DISRESPECT AND NOT CARING IS A WHOLE OTHER ISSUE - YOU ASKED WE TELL -
We made last minute reservations on a busy night. Instead of asking us to wait for a table for two, we were given an out of the way table for five. We were cozy and treated like family. The Chilean sea bass was the best I have ever had. Our waiter was attentive , but not over attentive. There was live music playing softly in the background. We had a lovely evening. It is one of my favorites.
Thoroughly enjoyed it the food was great the service was fine the bartenders were great everyone was very nice and seems like the people that do go there seem to be pretty good also very friendly crowd I would definitely go back and recommend this to all that I know
Beyond that this restaurant is pretty much just for Retirees, it was recommended that we go outside since it was " Well Heated" which it wasn't, we didn't complain, we had a heat lamp moved closer. It started raining on us and were placed at a corner table still outside. We again didn't complain. We were the only table to be left outside, everyone else was brought inside still didn't complain. Some putz moved the chairs from out of the rain and surrounded our table with them which made the whole ambience really enchanting, we still didn't complain. When we were leaving, I went outside to pull our car up so my Fiance didn't have to walk in the ran. When she cracked the front door open the Manager snapped at her to "Close the door" There wasn't visibility outside unless that manager thinks she had xray vision. THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE! So to those who would consider going here.
Our sever did a fine Job that was literally the only bright spot, the food is nothing noteworthy. so if you're 45 or under this retirement home of a restaurant is not the place to spend your money. Go back into PHX where you won't incorporate a hospital smell mixed with Mediocre Italian food.
L’Amore is our favorite local restaurant. The food is delicious, and the service is attentive. The owners are almost always on hand to lend a little familial charm to the place. Their seafood dishes are particularly well prepared, but don’t miss out on their pasta specials and amazing lasagna. Their steamed clams are the best I’ve ever had (get lots of bread for the broth). We will be dining at L’Amore for years to come.
L'Amore is a treasure! Wonderful location with delicious choices for a great value. Exceptional wine selection and intimate setting makes for an unforgettable dining experience. We enjoyed cioppino, sea bass, cannelloni - great selection for everyone. Service was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the selections. We look forward to our next trip to the Phoenix area and our next meal at L'Amore!
