L'Allegria always pleases. Their spaghetti carbonara is a hidden gem as an appetizer or main course. The polenta with pancetta is another home run appetizer . Basically everything they serve is excellent and well thought out in presentation and taste. Their pizza is also a knock out.I have eaten at the other Italian restaurants in Madison and Chatham and they really do not hold a candle to L'Allegria.
Chairs dated and decor a tad gaudy, but fantastic food.
Love this restaurant! I would definitely recommend going here!!
Haven't been to this restaurant in a very long time and we were quite disappointed. Our server was aloof, never filled our water glasses, forgot drink orders and was rude when we asked if they had blue cheese stuffed olives. Maybe he was having a bad day but that doesn't justify the bad food. Appetizers were bland and my dinner looked like it had come out of the garbage. Never again! Many, many years ago, they served very good food - don't know what happened.
This is one of our favorite restaurants, especially for those special occasions. The service and food are outstanding and we have never been disappointed.
We regularly dine at L'Allegria and it never disappoints. Excellent service, excellent food and a great experience. Going back on Saturday.
Excellent dinner and service.
Food was mostly good, only 1 entree of 4 was not good. Service was terrible. Hardly saw our waitress. We were never told what the specials were, where the menus were. Sat for 20 minutes before anyone paid attention to us. Waited 30 more minutes for appetizers, then 30 more minutes for entrees. Had to request for bread and water, this should just be offered. Spent over 2 hrs for dinner without dessert as we just didn't want to stay any longer.
Great place you will not be disappointed. Food in phenomenal. Don't hesitate to make res. Not BYOB also.
Haven't been here in years and decided to try it again. Just as good as I remembered. Authentic Italian restaurant. Nice specials. Everything we ordered was delicious. Bartender makes a good Apple Martini!
server failed to offer to fill our empty glasses of wine or water unless we requested.
Already great food and service!!
Food was good quality, not the portions I was expecting for the price, ( two small potato pieces with my chicken)
compared to other area restaurants. Needs a face lift.
We had a 7:15 reservation last saturday night / got there on time. Hostess said 10 minute wait. At 7:35 asked again. Told 10 minutes more. At 7:45 asked again- told 10 minutes more but pushed for "honest" answer which came back "not sure". Seated a little after 8.
Bread came - went to pour the oil and the top of the oil "container" came off - the oil spilled thankfully only totally filling the bread plate. Told the waiter- who said - " oh, that has happened before!".
The service is slow - the people there are very nice. Pasta is very good. The wild boar over risotto was mediocre.
They need to figure their scheduling. Seating reservations 45 minutes late is not acceptable.
Another excellent meal with well thought out menu items. Always enjoy the baby octopus appetizer.
Good ambiance and great service. Overall I enjoyed our business meal.
Tasty authentic Italian food, beautifully presented in appropriately-sized portions. Very accommodating to gluten-free requirements.
Interesting menu choices; not cookie cutter Italian with lots of regional specialties. Everyones’ food came out luke wam, however. Great , personable service, cocktails, and wine list.
Menu extensive -quality of food outstanding— we had an excellent server but first course was very slow out of the kitchen-not inexpensive but satisfactory for the price
We had a great meal here! It was not crowded when we were there, although it’s unclear why because the service and food were top notch. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for good Italian food!
I made a reservation on open table and left a comment that I was there celebrating my parents 40th anniversary. When we got to the restaurant, it had our name in the reservation book and what we were celebrating. The entire night went and not one person said happy anniversary or acknowledged the occasion. After saying something to the waiter they still did nothing.....didn’t even offer us anything. The food was eh and it’s very pricey. I cannot believe an upscale restaurant would act in this manor.
The worst dining experience I've had in years. Food took over 2 hours to arrive. Server only checked once with us to ask if we wanted dessert, and we had not received our entrees yet. They were totally disorganized. We left after 3 hours, 15 minutes. Food was bland and tasteless.
They tried to make amends by buying each of us a glass of wine and offered free dessert, but by then we were thoroughly disgusted.
Food was nice but very slow to arrive and very difficult to get the waiters attention
Service can be hit or miss but food is always dead on. I love the live piano music.
We went out for my husbands birthday. The food was excellent but my fish portion was small. The service was slow for an empty restaurant. It was a 1000 points promotion for that evening. It was a problem to receive my points due to incompatible computers Eventually I received it,
Old-school continental cuisine restaurant. Professional, personable, courteous wait staff can’t compensate for the mediocre food at premium prices. We won’t be going back.
Nice atmosphere, live piano music, menu is rich and there are lot of daily specials. You can have also pizza if you don't find anything else to eat.
Really enjoyed. Thought food was delish and service was great. Will def be back.
Great restaurant all around. Food was delicious. Wouldn't change a thing!
Food was awesome! Service was great and our Sarah our server was delightful!
Never disappoints! Service, food, ambiance were excellent! Made dinner with friends a great evening!
Great consistent staple in north jersey and a really nice atmosphere
The food was very good and they had a large menu. It was a bit loud, but the restaurant was almost full. The service was fine, but very slow.
Never a bad time or food - very good service, reasonable and nice and quiet. Perfect.
Very good food and service.
Always a nice experience.
With our theater production ending almost an hour before our reservation time at L'Allegria, we were accommodated immediately, served promptly and presented with the restaurant's typically exquisite menu. We have been dinning here for over 20 years as occasional patrons but treated as if we were regular guests. They do not miss a single step in providing ad elegant dinning experience.
While the food was very good, the service was poor. During the lunch hour there was a very small crowd and we had to wait for our waiter too many times . The restaurant did not appear to be that busy for lunch hour, yet the waiter service took an inordinate amount of time.
Good food, good service, good advice from waiter, all in all a good evening. Wait staff seemed stretched a little thin, but handled it well.
We were looking for a quiet and romantic dinner because it was date night for my husband and me. We loved the elegant ambiance including the piano player. We were able to relax and talk and not be disturbed by loud diners around us. The food was excellent starting with the bread through dessert! Don't miss the tiramisu.
Lunch was delicious, and they were very accommodating with our needs.
Our server, Alana was awesome!!
