A very pleasant birthday celebration for our party of 11. Our server Nader was very helpful, patient and informative. The food was all very good.
Great menu with many different options . Food was authentic and very delicious . Service was attentive and adequate . Happy that Lala Rokh has a full bar now .wiuld love to go back for everyday dining if I lived close by
Excellent, unusual cooking. Small plates offer great chance to try many unique dishes. Go.
Wonderfully flavorful, interesting food in an elegant but comfortable restaurant. Our waiter was utterly charming and offered excellent suggestions. Our favorites were the duck fessenjam and the olive tapenade -- best things I've ever eaten. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Boston -- a great place to take out-of-town guests, as Persian food is different than the usual yet accessible and delicious.
Beautiful restaurant that portrays Persian food in the way it should be, as fine dining. Cannot recommend more.
The food was really flavorful and fresh. We had many very good dishes, but one that no one at the table liked. Also, the cocktails had very little flavor or just didn't taste good. We had six people so we got to try a variety of both drinks and food. The service was polite but harried.
Very strange vibe. When questioned about fava beans in the rice mixture the manager pick up my friend’s knife, poked around on her plate and pointed them out to us. I was going to host a business dinner there in a month (had many great experiences there in the past) but will not do so. Seems the whole decor has changed (e.g. from beautiful menus to paper sheets stuffed into dirty plastic sheets) as well. Has it changed owners? I will not be back, sad, since it was once an elegant place.
I had a couple of vegan salads to create one meal. It was delicious. The food was fresh, flavors were complex, dishes were authentic, and overall we were very pleased with our experience.
This is one of our go-to restaurants for dining in Boston. The food is very good, they have valet parking and the prices are very reasonable. My only complaint this time was that they seemed a bit shorthanded. Our waiter was great but it did take awhile longer to get the food but otherwise, it is a great restaurant.
Easily the most underwhelming dining experience in a long, long time. I don't know what others are referring to when they talk about the "flavors." All I could taste was oil and butter.
The saffron and lemon chicken wings were greasy. The salted cod "fritters" were patties with pomegranate seeds sprinkled on top. Duck leg and sea bass entrees were equally flavorless. How do you make a dry, tasteless duck leg?
This was the worst $300 I have spent on dinner in a long, long time.
Food was excellent. Obviously understaffing of servers. Took 15 minutes and grabbing the manager to clear our table. We would have ordered dessert but could not get service and did not want to wait in frustration. Too bad, it could be a gem.
Great flavorful food! Wonderful and knowledgeable service.
Understaffed. Food not hot.
They forgot about two of the dishes we ordered, but we weren’t charged and the food was good enough that we didn’t care.
Food was very good to excellent. Zeytoon appetizer and tahdig (crispy buttery rice) were amazing!!! Seasonal vegetarian soup from new year spring menu, also excellent! Staff were nice to allow us to order it off the prix fixed menu! Cucumber salad was too small, not a good value, but well done. The lamb medallion dinner surprised as it was more of a stew over rice, but still delicious. My spouse thought the Fesenjun (?) duck dinner, also in stew form over rice, was too saucy. The flavor was unusual, and...um, interesting. When asked, he commented about the sauce, and was offered more rice. Accommodating! Overall positive, helpful staff. We reserved late, so were placed next to a wall, & near a large, slightly noisy group, not ideal. Overall, positive...will return!
I excellent food with an exotic flair
Friendly service and delicious food
A great Boston treasure! Had the eggplant appetizer and the short rib, just excellent. A nice cozy place with comforting yet exotic food, try it!
Every dish was delicious and the ambience relaxed and attractive.
Wonderful place for dinner. Last night I had an amazing trout with delicious salad and a delicate desert. A lovely meal with a cool cocktail and quiet atmosphere for good conversation.
Food is delicious but I was hoping for a more Persian ambiance experience. The decor and the music makes you think you’re in a French restaurant
Absolutely gorgeous spot on a charming street in the greatest date neighborhood in Boston. That's before you walk in the door, but once you do it stays equally wonderful. The staff are kind, the food is delicious and the service is good. Eat here and then go for a long walk over the bridge, in the park, or along the esplanade.
I can't say enough about our server (I believe his name is Nareg) who was fantastic with suggesting food options throughout the night.
Great atmosphere and food!
My husband and I had Valentine’s dinner here and it was outstanding! The food was superb - elevated enough and a touch of home that made me feel like my grandmother was in the kitchen. We will be going back again and again!
Lots of yummy food. Came on a recommendation from a friend. Ate tapas style and enjoyed many different dishes and flavors.
We were impressed by the freshness, quality, and taste of all the dishes we tried. Love that they have small plates, as well as heartier entrees to choose from. We weren't sure how hungry we would be, and the waiter was happy to take a 'wait and see' approach. We ordered 5 small plates, then ordered a full entree and one side dish to share. Calamari was like great calamari everywhere; super crispy, with a somewhat unique under sauce. Borani Gharch (sautéed mushrooms & yoghurt) was tasty, and served on top of something reminiscent of polenta. Favorites were: cauliflower side dish, Kotlet (chicken), and the Dolmeh zucchini stuffed with meat. Can't wait to go back and try some of the salads and dips!
Worth going back to every change we get. A gem. The staff is amazing. Such a wonderful place
Great food and service. Ideal place to try a different cusine. I recommend ordering small plates to share, particularly the lamp chop, mushrooms and shrimp!
The food was really excellent. The service got a little bit slow at the end but all in all it was a really nice dinner.
Some of the most delicious food I've had in a while! We got a bunch of small plates to share and everything was totally delightful. I'll definitely be back.
A very pleasant dining experience on Beacon Hill. Portion sizes were generous and the all of our dishes were cooked to perfection.
Delicious Persian food with variety of options for vegetarians, plenty of options for carnivores and fish lovers. Attentive wait staff and excellent service. Great location on Beacon Hill. Very good wine options by the glass and bottle.
Our experience at Lala Rokh was great from start to finish. We were welcomed warmly and seated promptly. Our waiter gave a very thorough rundown of the menu and provided great recommendations of what to try as it was our first time dining with them. The Persian Rose cocktail and various dishes surpassed my expectations. Nestled in the heart of Beacon Hill this spot is perfect for a date night and for the opportunity to explore Persian cuisine in a welcoming and family environment.
Everything was great!
Best chicken in all of Boston. Amazing appetizers.Great wine. I love all the lamb dishes and the soups here. This restaurant never fails to delight.
Excellent seasonings in beef, lamb, chicken and vegetable dishes as we introduced visiting 20 somethings to one of our favorite restaurants.
We waited for a while to be seated until we had to walk to the waiter to ask for seating. The waiter was excellent in offering tasting and recommendations for food
My boyfriend and I tried exploring Lala Rokh for a date, and we're so glad we did! Our server was amazing (very attentive, enthusiastic) and the food was great as well. The eggplant and shrimp for appetizers were delicious, as well as the two entrees (lamb and chicken). My boyfriend grew up in the Middle East and he said the lamb dish took him back to his mother's cooking.
First timers. Liked the low-key, relatively quiet atmosphere (we were in the back, but even the front part of the restaurant -- which is a little nicer in terms of decor -- maintained a low hum. Food was great, from the special zucchini soup to the beef kubideh to the duck leg. Desserts were OK, but noteworthy. Service was friendly and timely. Will try again!
Went to Lala Rokh to celebrate some friends visiting from Dublin and to show them the holiday lights on the Common just steps away. Couldn't have asked for a better meal, more charming service, and a more delightful locale. Everyone was raving about the choice of restaurant later, and I'll definitely be back.
