   They didn’t have several things on the menu. Crab cakes had some plastic in the middle. Plates pretty expensive for what we got.

   This used to be our favorite restaurant at Shanty. A recent interior renovation has ruined that. The dull gray lighting now looks like you’re eating in a utility closet. The cozy ambiance of the fireplace and outdoor views is now lost due to the Kmart special interior lights. The menu has changed for the worse as well. We won’t be back. Pelicans Nest is our new fave and well worth the short drive. Great food, ambiance and staff at Pelican’s Nest.

   While the view was amazing (we were lucky enough to sit right against the window), the food and service was just mediocre. We opted to order from the menu (the buffet didn't look great for $47/person). The salmon entree I ordered was $30 and came with just fish and a small serving of a veggie. I have dietary restrictions so they allowed me to sub the veggie for something different which was nice. However, when my SIL ordered the same entree and hers came with a totally different veggie that I could have eaten and was not offered as an option to me. Everything was slow. The server didn't check on us enough and as the night went on everything moved even slower. We ordered dessert and waited way too long for it. I am pretty sure that nothing had to be cooked/baked upon ordering so it should have been a lot quicker. I always say that you can't get view/atmosphere AND good food. It seems to be one or the other which is always disappointing.

   There are renovations afoot! The old funky bar has been moved so that people sitting there can enjoy the gorgeous view, the whole space has been upgraded to a contemporary feel (though we miss the big old leather chairs) and the chef has taken the food to a new (and truly fantastic) level with a really wonderful buffet on weekends. We've been coming for years and LOVE the new changes (with the same great service)!

   Valentine’s Day dinner with hubby. We sat at the corner table and watched the sunset with a bottle of wine. The buffet was delicious and the view of night tubing was perfect. We were not rushed, even though we felt like we had the best table in your restaurant. We probably spent a hour there. The service was excellent and the manager even came over to help us pick out the wine of our choice. Upon departing, I bumped my wine glass and it broke on the floor. I began to pick up the pieces, but a waitress quickly came over with a dust pan and sent me on my way. This dinner was a memory we will not forget…Thank you!

   Not a typical “restaurant” setting. We walked in and it doesn’t feel like a restaurant considering it sits open in the middle of the main lobby. We viewed the menu online ahead of time and it looked pretty good, but when we arrived we were told there was a limited menu and a buffet. We choose the buffet. Wrong choice - the food was cold, the chicken was pink, and the line for the pasta line and prime rib was ridiculous so we didn’t even bother. I ordered a dirty martini, it was so bad I didn’t finish it.

   I have eaten dinner here at least once or twice / ski season for years. We eat breakfast there more than dinner. Breakfast is usually pretty decent. Dinner is very hit or miss. We had a dinner buffet yesterday that was $45 / person. The atmosphere and the staff were very good. I have had service issues in the past but that was not the case yesterday. The staff was very helpful. The issue was the food. There were not very many selections for a $45 buffet. The prime rib was good but the rest of the food was lacking. There were only 6-7 items max and one of them was terrible. The terrible one being the jambalaya. Something was way off with it. Like spoiled. Our table of 4 didn't finish it and neither did the table behind us. Even kids commented on it. The other items were just ok but absolutely nothing special. The prime rib was good but the cost for what other items were available was too high.

    The menu looked really good, but never got the chance to enjoy it. They were very short staffed, which isn’t an issue but no one ever let us know that before we were sat. Waited a half hour and didn’t even see a server go by and didn’t even put in a drink order. Again… no one even came up to us to let us know the situation we had to learn this from the tables next to us who also had been waiting over an hour for food and drink orders. We ended up leaving and had to try to find somewhere else that was open nearby for food, which was extremely limited with it being New Year’s Day. Had to drive a half hour for takeout cause that was the only other option. Terrible experience.

    Thé buffet for New Years Eve dinner was not up to par for the price. As a chef, I was not impressed with the selections and would have liked to have been offered a food menu as well. The prime rib was ok and so where the glazed carrots. Nothing was listed on the buffet as we had to guess what each food item was. The new renovations are not elegant and there should have been tables available next to the fire place. Tables by the bar were not preferred as that is where the buffet should have been. The lighting could be dimmed as well. The service was not great as we were not offered a second drink and took forever to receive our check. For just clearing plates, the service could have been more efficient. 😳

    Was sat right at arrival. 20, twenty minutes later and no one came to our table. Left went to the shanty, had drink in hand and dinner ordered within minutes. It’s a shame, I’ve been a home owner nearby for 20 years and the service never improves here.

    Took forever for someone from the waitstaff to come to our table. The hostess was also the bartender. I know they were short staffed that evening. Ordered the north woods burger with truffle fries. The burger was delicious. Had to ask the waitress for the fries. By the time they came out everyone at the table was finished eating. A few in our party tried the oriental buffet. Ok but wouldn’t try it again. Lakeview, you always seem to disappoint.

    Made a reservation in advance after seeing menu online and reading about the views from dining room. Instead, seated in a back corner and given a limited menu or buffet option. Manager gave us a weak apology. Drove back to Traverse City very unhappy.

    This is our 2nd experience having the thanksgiving day brunch and it was just as we remember. The staff was very friendly which made the experience just as amazing as our last stay in shanty creek!!!

    As a new owner of a rental property in the resort, I wanted to see if I should recommend this restaurant to my future guests. I would be embarrassed to recommend dining here as the drinks were poor, the food was bland, and the service was terrible. While dining, the lights flickered for 15-20 minutes and patrons were commenting about it causing headaches or seizures. Just a nightmare!

    Wife's salmon dinner came out uncooked, sent it back. The NY strip steak was good, but it only came with kettle chips with some type of topping on it. Would expect more than chips for $38, like maybe a baked potato or vegetables. Overall it was nice and maybe the kinks are still being worked out.

    Space was recently renovated. It looks nice, nice views but dirty windows. Menu choices were fine. Food was all good, service was good but it was not busy while we were there.

    We were seriously disappointed by this restaurant. Service was awful, wasn’t even approached by a server for 15-20 minutes when we sat down. Prices were crazy for very poor quality food. Everything looked like it sat under a heat lamp for an hour. Very dry and flavorless.

    Good was very good, and the service was excellent. Unfortunately the property is in the middle of renovations which detracted greatly growl the view and ambiance. We’ll go back for sure, but not until their project is complete.

    Our salads were very pleasing and perfect to balance our great burgers and fries. Plenty of other choices, but we so happy with our choice. Our server, Cheryl F. was always checking on us. We will return in the future if we are staying nearby .

    We eat out several times per week all over Antrim County and especially in Bellaire. There is no place that can compare to the Lakeview whereas the View is concerned. Beautiful Views of Lake Bellaire and the Summit Mountain slopes from the Top of the Mountain! The Salmon and Steaks we had were excellent and the Service is unequalled anywhere in Bellaire. We love it there!

    When making our reservation, we requested a window if available. Arriving on time there were 2 people at the hostess stand in front of us who stated they did not have a reservation and were seated at the last window table in front of us.
