when reserving our table, only later seatings were available - we chose 8:30pm. Upon arriving there were a few people seated and many empty tables. The resaurant faces the lake and even at night has a view of lights. We were seated next to a wall beside the server station - a seat best described as the absolute last one you would want in the dining room. We asked to move and were quickly and easily accomodated. To start, I had the scallops with pancetta which was absolutely fantastic. presentation was beautiful and it left me wanting more! 2 med size scallops & slice of pancetta on a bed of saffron risotto - $19.00. My husband enjoyed the surf & turf ravioli for $20. We both chose special entree's - I had lamb which was good and the cod was just OK - on the dry side. Rounding off the meal - macarons and a special coffee - total bill for 2 was $185.00. Most disappointing was what should have been the star - the ambience. First with the initial seating, followed by the set-up of the tables for morning breakfast while we were still finishing our meals. While one would expect the occasional set-up - every table was a bit much. With so many farm to table options in the Okanagan with gifted chefs at this price point, we wont be back for dinner but may return for a summer sipper for the setting and historic hotel alone.
Vince, as always, was engaging and entertaining. We have been going to the Eldorado since 1998 and Vince should be applauded for his expertise in both cocktail and menu descriptions.
Polite courteous service. Food delicious. We look forward to our next reservation.
As expected, the service was amazing and the ambiance so lovely. There was no rushing at all. We ordered several dishes to share, but next time I'm NOT sharing the scallops—I'll have them all to myself.
Our waiter, Vince, was outstanding as usual, and has been our server for every anniversary for as long as I can remember!!!
Beautiful setting even in winter.
We had the Duck and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. They even prepared a Birthday greeting with the dessert.
Price is not reflecting the quality. Food was good but not great.
Service was very good. Stuck behind a pillar so no view. Soup delicious, duck a bit tough. Good wine list. Good selection of local wines.
The variety of food at the Sunday brunch was excellent. The coffee had a lot of grounds in the bottom of the cup, it's always nice to get a mouthful of grounds. The staff was very attentive and quick to help. The view out over the lake was nice. The bill at the end was a bit of a shocker, we were told the brunch was great and we should go, so we did and it was, nobody told us it would be a 72 dollar meal for 2 people!!
Final opinion of mine: Great food, good atmosphere and excellent staff, but way overpriced, which overshadowed the whole experience.
Will not be returning.
The server was great! I ordered the $55 steak and it was over cooked, so that was diappointing. Don't like to send back food when it means others in the party might feel bad. We were taken out for a retirement celebration. The ambiance and lovely quiet were much enjoyed.
