Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge
Lakeside offers a fine casual dining experience with a predominance of locally-sourced, organic products, blending California food traditions with fit-friendly awareness.
Not a fan. Won't be going back. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best.
The food - both fish dishes were prepared nicely an were delicious. One was Sea Bass, the other a Branzino. It’s late February and we dined on the patio bordered by the lake.
We also enjoyed the wine selection, especially the Donkma Cutrer Chardonnay.
Our wItress was knowledgeable and attentive.
Great night out with the wife to celebrate our anniversary.
Great place for a business lunch. Wide selection of foods and the service is quick. Noise level is fine unless the birds in the pond are being feed by other customers.
Awful food, very bad service.
I absolutely love this place. I've come for a number of different reasons from catching up with friends over lunch, brunch, happy hour, dinner to dates. The bottomless mimosa or sangria for brunch is a great value (more so the sangria!). I've never had a bad meal, always enjoyed the service staff (Leo is awesome!) and have even made new friends while catching up with old ones.
nice to sit by the water on a beautiful day and listen to the ducks.
Always great food and service. The geese were a little loud, lol, but they're fun to watch.
Had late brunch/ early lunch there with a friend. The ambiance on the patio is so lovely overlooking the lake. The salad I ordered was delicious. I would definitely come back.
Always enjoy our time at Lakeside. Great food and atmosphere.
We had a very nice birthday celebration for lunch on the patio. Food and service were excellent. The 2-course Power Lunch was an excellent value and had a nice choice of entrees. The Filet of Sole was really delicious as was the salmon. We look forward to a return visit.
The restaurant setting is very pleasant. Our group of four sat outside for a Saturday lunch, and we had a view of the lake and the park. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful; however, the food service was on the slow side. The food is good quality, and each of us enjoyed our selections. One lady said her Kobe hamburger was delicious...very good quality meat. They accommodated another lady by wrapping her Kobe hamburger in lettuce (she's gluten-free). I really liked their roasted potatoes.
Note that you have to turn on the side street just east of the front of the restaurant to get to the valet parking and the entrance, which is in the back of the restaurant.
I had one of my worst experiences here. It was sooooooo loud, we couldn’t have conversation bcoz of that. Tables are set up so compact and close to each other 😐
I asked one of the staff to change our table, she refused and didn’t try at least to find another available table. The food is delicious, and the view of the lake is so nice, however I will not go again, since the atmosphere is so important for me.
I have been here several times and it never disappoints. Food is good and prices reasonable. I always have terrific service and an enjoyable meal.
It was great. It was a quiet night at the restaurant and they sat us outside. All good.
We’ve eaten here many times and always happy. This time we were Disappointed with the service. Had to ask the waiter and bus boy to level our table several times. Two of us shared a salad as an appetizer and they only brought out the salad. Had to ask twice for an extra plate. Service was slow.
What a great idea! Lunch by a lake filled with beautiful, often very loud, swans and ducks. The setting was wonderful, hidden from loud, noisy Ventura Blvd. The lunch special was a great bargain and the food was delicious. So glad I went.
Food and service were excellent as always. The patio is comfortable and pleasant. The only noise was from the ducks and geese, the customers were quiet and well behaved.
Server was inattentive. Had to ask for everything, coffee refill etc. basically we were ignored
We have gone to Lakeside many times. We invited friends for their first experience to
Lakeside. They ordered dessert and after 4 requests to our waiter I hunted him down next to the kitchen. Although he apologized and compted the dessert our friends were really disappointed. Just thought you should know.
Extremely overpriced for mediocre (at best) food. I will not be eating here again.
My husband and I met a group of friends for a birthday. We’ve been to your restaurant many times. The service this last time leaves room for much improvement.
The bartender acknowledged us only after 10 minutes of us sitting, and the bar was not busy. He did not listen to my request of “no salt” on my pear cactus margarita. This is the 2nd time we’ve had the same waiter and he lacks paying attention to customers and we had to wait for items check.
The temperature was very chilly on a cold fall evening and my husband has to ask for the busboy to request to change it. Our busboy was great//we know him from The Little Cafe.
It did not feel like excellent customer service the last couple of times and The Lakeside is known for a great dining experience. I felt like either you were understaffed or you’ve got to train the wait staff and bartender proper etiquette.
Please don’t let your service and experience of us he a great restaurant fall!
Brought my mom here for her birthday and it was a great choice. We sat outside right on the lake and it is beautiful and you can see all of the ducks even though they can get pretty loud at times. Their breakfast is really good I had the French toast and it was melting in my mouth! This place is a hidden gem as you wouldn’t expect to find such a cool place in Encino. I would definitely give it a try!
New Years lunch. We couldn’t believe how slow the service was. We had to ask fir our drinks and bread and good about four times. Very surprised.
I would normally give you a 4 or 5 star rating, however, the service was not last Friday evening. Our party felt the service was not timely at all. When the valet person was nor where to be found, we asked a bus person if he knew and he was rather short with us and said, “he’s busy”!
Lakeside has become my watering hole stop whenever I have to traverse meetings in the west SFV back to WLA/South Bay. Whatever time of day, the ambience is like getting away from the hectic city. The food and drinks are a perfect mix, providing choices for lighter options or heavier fare. They have a great happy hour too.
My favorite go-to is the Lobster Mango Salad; light, but filling, with crunchy texture from jicama, tartness from the mango, and sweet from the lobster.
We were ignored upon arrival. It took awhile for us to be acknowledged.
Lovely place when weather is nice
Lake & swans are a beautiful backdrop while dining
Kitchen was slow and most of the food was cold. I have been here before and this was not my next experience. The restaurant was not even particularly busy.
We enjoyed everything about our Thanksgiving dinner BUT the Turkey. Cut WAYYYY too thick! Not much flavor. Very dry. Sides were great as were the pumpkin and apple crumb cake. Friendly and attentive service. $48 per person too high. Will go again when we can eat outside and enjoy the view.
You might hear or see "lakeside" and think, "oh this will be fancy." It's not. We went thinking the same thing and were sat in a dirt area (the ground was literally dirt) and there were kids running around screaming out of excitement and fear about the dozens and dozens of geese, ducks, and birds flying around hoping for food. It's hard to complain because after all, it says "lakeside." But I guess I was imagining something a bit nicer. The service (host and waiter) were efficient, though not overly attentive as you expect at finer restaurants. But the waiter knew a lot about the menu (he should of course) and the food was quite excellent. All but one thing which I've never experienced before: I ordered a burger with fries and the entire basket of fries were small little fry pieces of less than an inch. How strange! Literally I poured them all out on the plate to find a normal sized fry and it was as if I was served the very bottom of a bag of fries. And that's my point: these are probably not cut in a kitchen which tells you its a place that order pre-prepared food. Kinda of a bummer. The sangria and G/T were fantastic. The bartender on Saturdays seems to know what he is doing. Over all, I'd definitely be back but I'd have more realistic expectations. The homeless guy across the fence from the restaurant kept making dirty faces and staring down all of us eating. Not much you can complain about when it says "lakeside" right in the title. Can't blame anyone for that experience of birds, kids, home insecure people being attracted to be lake side. Now you know.
I recommend this place to everyone. Place was amazing, very beautiful.. very relaxing.. view was beautiful! Food was great.. I give 4star only because of the service.. waiter was very bad customer service.. they had to be prompted what to do by the customer.
Had a very nice evening at Lakeside. The menu had lots of options for me as I'm picky about what I eat. Food tasted great and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal as much as I did. The only problem was trying to find the server when we needed him.
I love the setting, and have actually eaten here twice in one week. The food is healthy and tasty And there is a great deal of variety and vegetarian options, and choices for those who would like a salad, and for those who prefer breakfast being served anytime of the day.
This neighborhood spot is convenient and much more consistent that it was in the past.
The food takes a while to come out, but when it does, it's definitely well worth the wait. Just don't go starving.
The food is overpriced for the quality. Very mediocre. The lake is nice and I guess that is the draw for
This restaurant was an amazing person very great Customer service and the food was spectacular. I will Recommend this place to all my friends.
