Lakeside Restaurant & Lounge
Lakeside offers a fine casual dining experience with a predominance of locally-sourced, organic products, blending California food traditions with fit-friendly awareness.
Very nice place, good food. The server Kelly was not the friendliest her attitude was not the best. My friend and i noticed it was not just with us but with all her tables.
possibly, noise level high and a little un comfortable.
Often an older crowd (i.e. grandparents), and families, but a hidden gem! Their food is consistently good, servers have always been great, full bar, decent wines. We've been several times since we moved into the neighborhood and I am so glad we checked this place out. You would never expect it to be as good as it is, just from the street view on Ventura. Little park and pond behind it, so when the weather is nice you get to enjoy that as well. If you haven't tried Lakeside, you should!
We had a birthday dinner for 3 people. 3 entrees, 1 appetizer and 1 dessert. We drank water so no cocktails and with tax/tip our bill was $180. That is too much for this kind of place. I’ll admit, out in the garden patio, during the summer, the place is charming, but if it’s too cold to sit outside, then it’s not a great place. They really need to enclose the dining area near the lake in glass windows and in the summertime the large glass windows could open. When you’re spending a fortune on ambience but there is zero ambience because the area is enclosed in a giant waterproof tarp and you can’t see outside, then really, why bother?
We had the avocado toast and the ahi with avocado starters. Both were delicious. We ate out on the covered patio and it was a little cool but drank hot tea and all was fine. I always order this tuna tartar and it is always so delicious. Why would I want anything else? Thank you so much. We shall be back soon.
The ambience was quiet and relaxing. We had the option of either eating outside by the lake or inside. We decided to stay inside because it was a bit chilly but it was perfect nonetheless. I love their brunch menu I ordered the chilaquiles, perfectly portioned. Would definitely recommend this place.
I mean where do I begin?! Disappointed by the service. It was very messy. Wrong orders were brought to us. Waited too long to order, 35 minutes to take our orders and 30 minutes to get our food. 3 drinks, 3 entrees (cob salad, 2 sandwiches) and 3 coffees. $147. I expect better service.
We told the manager and he brought us brownies. Which we didn’t eat but I gave an extra star for that.
The ambiance is pretty though.
We were a party of four who dined on a Sunday at noon. It was very crowded, but we were seated promptly. The service was friendly, but very delayed. We were seated on the back patio by the lake and it was a lovely view. Many children were running around happily feeding the ducks, so it was noisy. The noise was expected and acceptable due to our table location. The food was delicious and well-prepared. The wait staff was apologetic for the delay and was attentive once they realized we hadn't received our food after an over-thirty minute wait. A lovely ambiance and quality food make this a festive and fun restaurant.
We have been there several times and our experience was great. A little disappointed with the service this time. Staff seemed overwhelmed with private party set up. Had to ask for water several times, which has never happened before.
it was wonderful, as always. the restaurant is wonderful and we continue to patronize it with great pleasure. it is these stupid reviews which are so tedious and tiresome. sorry.
We always gone back for more. Love this place
I always enjoy going to Lakeside. It's a hidden valley gem. The food's always delicious and their waitstaff are friendly and professional. It's a great meetup place or special spot for a romantic dinner. I've been there for brunch too and that's great as well. Ducks! Love the ducks.
Chicken breast in salad was uncooked and I didn’t notice until after eating some of it. Was sick later in the afternoon thru the next morning.
Food was great, the place is very nice
Great place to sit enjoy dinner and a drink
I really enjoy Lakeside and have been referring this place for 3 years. I’m super bummed that they took their famous Chicken Cobb off the menu.
We. Ent there for our weekly lunch w several friends.
No Chicken Cobb... and no comparative chicken substitute???? What’s up Chef?
All red meat and raw fish? Or vegetarian?
Hope you’ll realize we need at least one or two fish/chicken optops that are cooked.
Thanks so much.
Excellent tasting food, but we can’t eat red meat very often.
The food is outstanding. My family has been coming here for years. Would highly recommend.
The restaurant noise level was so loud that my husband and I couldn't talk without repeating ourselves! The food - we had one french onion soup between us. The soup was thick and it didn't taste like a real french onion soup. Then we shared a bone in short ribs, which was way overpriced and absolutely tasteless! We've had short ribs at other restaurants and the taste was wonderful! The bread was good. We were seated at the smallest table and it was a good thing that we shared food otherwise we the food wouldn't have fit! My husband had two wines, which was overpriced since it was happy hour! We spent $61.00 on this awful meal and that didn't include the tip! That was one french onion soup and one bone in short rib entree and 2 glasses of wine! I think the bill was outrageous!!!!!!! All in all we will never go back to this place!!!!!!!!! The "what would you recommend this restaurant for" - I couldn't find anything to recommend this restaurant for!!!
Lamb chops were outstanding, wine and dessert very good. Calamari not so good.
That is it.
Dining outside on a warm winter day was delightful!
Great food, great service, and good prices!
I love this restaurant but was surprised at how much prices went up since last time I was there . Would still recommend but definitely higher priced, ie my favorite salad went from $20 to $28.
Food delicious and love sitting on the patio.
Lovely place to have lunch with a great view of the water and ducks. A little pricey, but food is excellent! Heaters on the patio were on full blast - a little too warm. Parking was difficult.
Food was good. Staff was attentive.
Love the setting of this restaurant, but found the brunch menu a bit limited and very pricy for the food offered. Service was good.
Reliable restaurant. I go there often. It is a great meeting place since I live in Pasadena and have friends in the west valley.
Enjoyed my birthday lunch along with a nephew from out of the area, who enjoyed the food and ambiance as well. Have eaten there a number of times and will return, Same for nephew when he's in SFV.
Great food and amazing service! If you're looking for a nice romantic setting on a budget, this is certainly the place to go. I would take advantage of their Happy Hour menu, it won't disappoint.
Good food great service. A little cold but it was a Voldemort evening. Will return.
We were really excited to try this place and overall is wasn't too bad. The order was screwed up for 2 out of 4. They forgot my fries and my friends baked potato was cold and hard in the middle and not baked at all. The Ribeye's were Ok, the funniest part was I ordered one and my friend ordered the same, his Ribeye was almost double in size. I compared the two steaks thinking one might be thicker and it wasn't. Mine was around 35% smaller. The steak didn't have much flavor and was pretty bland. Keep in mind I am used to Maestro's and Ruth's Criss however was hoping for a sleeper steak. The steak was a 30.00 steak, not anything more. The deserts were excellent. Shrimp Apps were pretty good and the fries were fries. The drinks were also very good. Our server was great, she felt bad they missed so much on our order.
Overall the place is nice, I believe we caught it on a bad night and we may try it again.
Food was quite good and service was good too. Food is a bit pricey. Nice place for a business lunch or a friends visit.
So nice to sit on the outside patio and watch the geese, ducks, the lake, and right off Ventura Blvd, very nice, relaxing time...........
More fun when it's warm and you can sit outside and watch the ducks, but still a nice inside dining area. Disappointed they removed one of my favorite vegetarian items (the veggie flatbread) leaving very few vegetarian options on the menu. Probably will not go there as often because of that. A little pricey considering I won't be able to get what I want off the menu. Service is always fairly good. Took family from out of town and they really liked the restaurant
We were quickly seated. Our party ordered the braised short-rib - good but both the short-rib and baked potato were cold, Lakeside burger - dry and not well seasoned had to ask for ketchup, trio tacos - dry had to ask for salsa, ahi tuna salad - good. Our server was friendly but unfortunately, we had to get our her attention a few times as she wasn't circulating, instead standing by the bar chatting. We had to ask for more napkins, some more bread because our food was taking long (bartender had to call the server's attention to us) and refill of water. This is the first time we experienced subpar food and service at Lakeside.
Food was great! Considering this place has a lake, the view was good but it could have been even better. Maybe some pretty lights? Lots of potential.
Staff was GREAT! Very attentive and the surrounding nature made for a WONDERFUL brunch date. 10/10 recommend
Varied menu; delicious food, good wine and bar choices, and not rushed; pricing is good too.
Having grown up in Encino it was nice to see that Los Encinos is nicely maintained and that a nice restaurant has come in so you can enjoy the view. The food was very good but I thought a little over priced especially for lunch. I love watching all the ducks BUT our table was right next to the pond which would have been great except for the mess the ducks leave. I suggest they plant larger plants along that area so you don't have to look at that while you're eating. Next time I will ask for a table in the center.
I’ve heard so much about this restaurant, and was delighted to try it. I made our reservations on OpenTable and didn’t know how to ask for outdoor seating. I was delighted that they were able to save us on the patio. However, there is a small part of the patio area that has a concrete/asphalt floor. Although I was so happy to sit outside, I really did not like that we were on dirt.
