About Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant
In the mountains of North Georgia the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant has been welcoming guests since 1922. Restored in 2008, the hotel and restaurant offer the best of rustic elegance. From the antique heart pine walls to the locust beams on our deck, expect unique, local craftsmanship. The decor is rich with period antiques, hand-woven rugs, and local artwork.
It features a creatively prepared and presented Contemporary American menu with a Southern twist in the farm to table tradition. Fresh produce locally grown is hand selected and prepared by our Chef de Cuisine, Zac Chapman, whose entrees respect the natural flavors of high quality, humanely raised and locally harvested food. His kitchen produces cuisines from many regions including Classical French, Southern USA, and Mediterranean. Many guests describe the food at the Lake Rabun Hotel as "the best in the mountains."

Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed. We had heard such great things about the food. The menu looked impressive with lots of fresh and interesting choices. We went for thanksgiving brunch so it wasn’t the usual menu. The food was cold, and bland. For the amount we paid, there just wasn’t many choices. Service was fair, we were seated at a table that backed up to another table. The waitress didn’t help us move the table over so we could sit down. Something as simple as having butter available for the rolls or cornbread took too long to get someone’s attention and then wait for it to be delivered.
The location and hotel is beautiful, perhaps we picked the wrong day to visit.
Josh and staff continue to fine tune the menu and things just keep on getting better. The veggie selections were the best yet and the crab appetizer was perfect. The 'special' entrée as well as a menu item were great with the wine. I can't forget the dessert ---- pumpkin Crème Brule ! Understand why we don't mind driving 50+ minutes to dine there ?!
We love eating at the Lake Rabun Hotel and go every time I'm in town visiting family. Love the menu and how there are seasonal changes making sure all of the ingredients are fresh and local. The staff here is amazing especially Josh, he really makes the restaurant and will do whatever it takes to make sure everything is running smoothly. Great for special occasions or when you're just looking for something nice and different. I suggest sitting outside if possible, even now that its getting colder, they have heaters and can seal off the windows, but it is just so beautiful!!
My husband did GREAT booking us at Lake Rabun Hotel & Rest. The property is beautiful and the hotel was very relaxing. The staff were always cordial and helpful. We had a great Friday evening watching football and visiting with several other guest after dinner. We definitely recommend and will come again.
My wife and I enjoyed our Wednesday evening meal after a day of fly fishing on Soque River. We ordered the burger with blue cheese & bacon that was a special item on the menu . My chicken choice was very moist & flavorful along with the squash soup I chose as an appetizer. We both shared an apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream that topped off the meal. Service was attentive & setting relaxed.
This is the place to go. Chef has excellent dishes and the taste is exquisite. All the staff is friendly and service is great. Hopefully you will get Brittney. If you are in the northeast Georgia mountains Lake Rabun is a must.
We stayed at the hotel 2 nights and ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant both days. They have a select menu but everything on there was beyond delicious. Staff was attentive and courteous. I recommend both the hotel and restaurant but if you're just looking for a place to eat definitely give it a try. It's a GEM!
Josh and crew have developed a new menu that gives you enough options of salad, entrée, and sides to satisfy all without overwhelming. As always the staff is attentive and the dessert and beverage selections varied. Dining there is always very------ relaxing !
Great dinner and breakfasts! My husband and stayed at the Lake Rabun Hotel for the total solar eclipse, and we stayed two nights. Breakfast comes with the price of the room, and each day's breakfast was different, delicious, and substantial. We ate dinner here on the night of the eclipse* and had a truly wonderful meal. Everything arrived piping hot from the kitchen, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was great. If we find ourselves in the area again, we will definitely stay at the hotel and eat dinner in the restaurant. *The restaurant does not serve dinner every night of the week - check their schedule and be sure to make reservations.
Here for after viewing Eclipse Dinner! Fantastic food! You must try the Fried Pimento Cheese Balls, and the Green Tomatoes! I had Fillet Mignon, and it would have melted in my mouth if I had not chewed. The fig dessert was to die for. The ambiance was wonderful; you could actually have a conversation and be heard. The service was wonderful. People friendly and professional. Would highly recommend! Also, they had good Coffee....an A++++ for me!
We had a lovely evening with our son and family the night before the eclipse. The food was good, the service was impeccable and cordial, we were even seated in a lovely little private alcove. It was a unique experience for our family visiting from Los Angeles. There is a great historic atmosphere at this unique hotel/restaurant.
The options on Lake Rabun aren't plentiful to begin with, but the dining room at the Hotel does a nice job. The food is fresh and well prepared. Just don't expect anything out of the ordinary. The wine list was varied, but nothing special. Mostly Gallo products available in any Kroger. On the food menu they offer the usual salmon, chicken, beef, trout dishes. I imagine this is more a limitation on what the clientele will buy than the chef's creativity though. The staff was friendly and outgoing. The bread plain sucked. 2 tiny corn muffins, while decent, weren't enough. And taking a par-baked Sister Schubert's roll, cutting it in half and presenting it as 2 pieces of bread is just shameful. Do better.
And whatever you do make sure they don't put you at the crappy 2 top by the door to the patio. The constant breeze blowing on the back of our necks as the service staff entered and exited every 19 seconds was distracting. That ruined my dinner.
The restaurant has lots of ambiance, and the food is outstanding with lots of fresh and interesting dishes. I do miss the scallops which are no longer off the menu, they were one of my favorites. Did I mention the two adorable cats that can be found on one the decks or multiple levels of the roof. The entire place oozes with charm.
