Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant
It features a creatively prepared and presented Contemporary American menu with a Southern twist in the farm to table tradition. Fresh produce locally grown is hand selected and prepared by our Chef de Cuisine, Ryne Brown, whose entrees respect the natural flavors of high quality, humanely raised and locally harvested food. His kitchen produces cuisines from many regions including Classical French, Southern USA, and Mediterranean. Many guests describe the food at the Lake Rabun Hotel as "the best in the mountains."
We were looking for ambiance and nice quite dinner in the mountains. Very noisy as there was a table of 12 in the sun porch area with us. Scallops arrived barely warm and were dry.
Food was not very good at all, I’ve been there many times before and thought the food was very good. My oysters were Not good. Caesar salad was not very good also,I’m sure the food will get better as we get into summer.
amazing staff and service! everyone is so friendly and respectful, loved it!
Such a treasure in the North Georgia Mountains. The delicious food & exceptional service is why we keep coming back. Don't miss the She-crab Bisque or the Chef's weekly specials...you won't be disappointed!
We had stopped by before to enjoy cocktails several weeks ago and finally returned for dinner with another couple. We were not disappointed and surprised at the selection during the "off season." We look forward to returning again during the warmer months for the in season menu.
This is one of our favorites, however the last 2 times have not been quite up to our expectations.
We had friends visiting from Canada and wanted them to have a very special dinner they would remember. We could have gone to any of the fine dining in the area - but this is a special place that has ambiance you cannot get on main street and the food is fantastic. Not sure who the new boss lady was that seated us, I overheard something about the Farmhouse may have been where she had been. Sorry they gave her up. The others there are always warm and make you feel at home. I'd go back anytime - and look forward to soon.
The setting is lovely. The food excellent. The personal care and professionalism of the folks was remarkable.
Always a special place...it is literally like time stood still. 5 STAR quality food
Shrimp & Grits is always amazing!!!!
Certainly the best option available in the area. I would likely go if they moved it to Atlanta.
This was the best food we have ever eaten. We will definitely be back and have recommended to several already
Valentines dinner, excellent staff and food. Josh really makes everyone feel special.
An absolute gem. Food, service and atmosphere are always impeccable.
If you haven't had the chance to visit this beautiful hotel and restaurant, you're missing out!
Food was perfect! Service was perfect. Ambiance was perfect
A lovely inn and ambience (despite unnecessary soft rock musical underbed) though food may not warrant a 'best restaurant' award in a bigger farm to table town. Brussels sprouts were served so burnt they were black on one side and had an acrid after taste. In another kitchen this would have been prepared again rather than being served.
My birthday brunch was very special with only the 2 of us in the restaurant for the first 45 minutes!! I felt like a queen with the special service we got. The bacon was to die for!!
Beautiful setting for a meal. Food and service excellent. A little out of the way but the effort to get there was rewarded by meal. Drinks were outstanding as well. Thanks
Brilliant! As always ... keep up the great work!
Excellent food and service!
We have been there many times. It is excellent. It is an old hotel. Rock fireplace. Rustic wood everywhere. The Chef is excellent. Great bar also.
We rang in 2019 with LRH and had a fantastic meal! It also happened to be my twin daughter’s 15th birthday and the food was to die for!
A very nice, quiet, rustic getaway for our anniversary weekend. Staff was wonderful
It's important to differentiate the RESTAURANT from the HOTEL, as my experiences were different for each.
The RESTAURANT is fantastic, though pretty small: good service, great food, nicely decorated. Fried oysters, swordfish, salmon, and blueberry cobbler were all excellent. Well worth a trip down the winding roads to the hotel. 5 stars.
The HOTEL is a bit of a disappointment. Our room was a bit dated and in need of some small repairs, and the bathroom looked a bit like someone's first DIY attempt. The photos on their website are also a bit misleading. The staff that greeted us we friendly and helpful, but the accommodations show lack of effort. At $150/night, I expected more.
The food was excellent and such a charming atmosphere!! We loved it and will be back soon. The young man behind the bar made exceptional cocktails!!
We had a lovely Christmas brunch at Lake Rabun Hotel. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. It was a wonderful meal.
Christmas Eve dinner was awesome. They accommodated us last minute. Thank you !!
We live in the area and liked the idea of a late dinner on Christmas Eve. After a lovely drive around a bit of the lake, we were seated very close to our reservation time. The only reason I would give an overall 4star vs 5 was that we were seated at a 2top right next to the outside patio door with lots of traffic coming and going. My husband is 6'7" and would have blocked half the walkway, so I sat there instead. A lady next to us was eating in her coat. The restaurant was full, so we made the most of it and got warming cocktails that soon made the draft tolerable. The food was so delicious that it made the chilly seat more than worth it. Everyone was in good spirits and a lovely atmosphere. If you go during the current menu and love lamb, be sure to get the lamb shank - delicious and very ample, even for my husband! My filet was a close second. The chef clearly has a great sense of how to coax maximum flavor from every dish. We will be back for other special meals.
Christmas Eve. Lovely ambiance and great service.
The main meal should have been served much hotter than it was. We ate on the porch and our feet were cold. Also, we were placed at a table for 8 when there were 5 of us even though the restaurant was not that crowded. I had made a reservation after Thanksgiving for 4 people, and called 2 weeks later to change the reservation to 5. I was made to feel like it was an inconvience to make the change, so when one more person asked to join our group, I said I didn't think it would be possible. Hence, that person was alone Christmas Eve! Based on where we sat, I could have asked 3 more people. The whole time we were there, the restaurant was NOT full.
Our waitress was knowledgeable and did her best. Josh, the manager, visited our table and was very nice.
Best restaurant we have been to in the area; cozy atmosphere, tastefully setup table, nice, heavy silverware and glassware, excellent attention, good wine selection, varied menu featuring local producers, very private and relatively quiet table (ours was at least); a bit pricey but at the same time worth the money.
First night for a 'new menu' is always a surprise when you sit down already thinking of what you will order ! But although we can read it is always helpful that Josh and all of his staff can offer suggestions and recommendations. Starting with an awesome drink special then continuing with some new and some tried an true appetizers we were able to try a few new menu entress and a fish special that were all excellant. Great when you take friends that are picky and they talk of going back soon.
And, whatever cobbler they have ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, get it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,with a scoop of vanilla !
Excellent experience! Staff were very professional, personable and friendly. Great food! Bartender was awesome and made delicious drinks. Decorated beautifully for the holidays. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Enjoyed the delicious food and excellent service!
This is my favorite place in Rabun County, Georgia to splurge. The Chef is very innovative with his weekly menus. The Manager, Josh is very friendly and personable. All of the wait staff are very attentive but do not hover.
I try to frequent Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant as much as possible. In addition, the Sunday Brunch is always amazing!
Wonderful gem! Excellent food and service!
We dined on a Sunday night. The wedge salad was good. Our entrees were served and everything was cold. The jasmine rice was tasteless The asparagus was fresh but cold. The only hot item was the chicken. The trout was tasty but cold. The mashed potatoes were cold also. We had looked forward to the meal after reading reviews of the restaurant but we were very disappointed. The complimentary breakfast was as lackluster also. Very sub par.
Food was wonderful! Great service and atmosphere. We have visited several times and willl definitely return.
Very nice meal, with a comfortable and relaxed setting. Service was excellent, with 3-4 people involved, including the manager. Food was very good. I had the filet which was good and my friend had the vegetarian dish, which was outstanding. Decent wine and cocktail selection. Had a blueberry cobbler for dessert, which was very good.
