About Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant
In the mountains of North Georgia the Lake Rabun Hotel & Restaurant has been welcoming guests since 1922. Restored in 2008, the hotel and restaurant offer the best of rustic elegance. From the antique heart pine walls to the locust beams on our deck, expect unique, local craftsmanship. The decor is rich with period antiques, hand-woven rugs, and local artwork.
It features a creatively prepared and presented Contemporary American menu with a Southern twist in the farm to table tradition. Fresh produce locally grown is hand selected and prepared by our Chef de Cuisine, Claudia Nesbit, whose entrees respect the natural flavors of high quality, humanely raised and locally harvested food. His kitchen produces cuisines from many regions including Classical French, Southern USA, and Mediterranean. Many guests describe the food at the Lake Rabun Hotel as "the best in the mountains."

Lake Rabun Hotel and Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Josh (customer interaction and wine suggestions) and Beth (customer service and attention to detail) are stellar. Our server, Valerie, was attentive. There was an issue with us getting charged for someone else's two glasses of wine which I did not notice on Saturday night. A call to Beth totally rectified the wrong charge. The food pairings are unparalleled. The service is very upscale. The best of the best in Lakemont
Had reservations for 8:30pm, arrived 8:15pm was told we wouldnt be seated before 8:30pm. Completely understandable, but seating us at 9:00pm not understandable. No reason was given why. We ordered our drinks and crab cake. Drinks came quickly, shortly after our crab cake arrived. We began to eat and my wife notices a hair in the base of the crab cake. Our food took around 45 minutes to get to the table. It took so long that the waiter comped my wifes wine. My wife inquired to the waiter if we were suppose to receive bread with our meal like the other tables had gotten, she with a suprised face said, "You didn't get your bread?" Well the bread comes in a wicker basket and there isn't one on the table. We then ordered dessert and it was really good. Our experience was way under what I was expecting, the general manager came to our table 4 times and didn't notice the bread missing but looked at my wifes phone to see the picture she was looking at. Maybe they could pay more attention to what going on with the service and food. We won't return.
We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at the Hotel and had a fabulous time. Everything was more than we could have expected. Our room was very quaint and comfortable, just our style. The common areas were warm and inviting, but the restaurant and food were off the charts. Our anniversary meal was superb, and everyone made us feel special on our special occasion. We will be back again very soon.
Very disappointed. We had heard such great things about the food. The menu looked impressive with lots of fresh and interesting choices. We went for thanksgiving brunch so it wasn’t the usual menu. The food was cold, and bland. For the amount we paid, there just wasn’t many choices. Service was fair, we were seated at a table that backed up to another table. The waitress didn’t help us move the table over so we could sit down. Something as simple as having butter available for the rolls or cornbread took too long to get someone’s attention and then wait for it to be delivered.
The location and hotel is beautiful, perhaps we picked the wrong day to visit.
Josh and staff continue to fine tune the menu and things just keep on getting better. The veggie selections were the best yet and the crab appetizer was perfect. The 'special' entrée as well as a menu item were great with the wine. I can't forget the dessert ---- pumpkin Crème Brule ! Understand why we don't mind driving 50+ minutes to dine there ?!
We love eating at the Lake Rabun Hotel and go every time I'm in town visiting family. Love the menu and how there are seasonal changes making sure all of the ingredients are fresh and local. The staff here is amazing especially Josh, he really makes the restaurant and will do whatever it takes to make sure everything is running smoothly. Great for special occasions or when you're just looking for something nice and different. I suggest sitting outside if possible, even now that its getting colder, they have heaters and can seal off the windows, but it is just so beautiful!!
My husband did GREAT booking us at Lake Rabun Hotel & Rest. The property is beautiful and the hotel was very relaxing. The staff were always cordial and helpful. We had a great Friday evening watching football and visiting with several other guest after dinner. We definitely recommend and will come again.
My wife and I enjoyed our Wednesday evening meal after a day of fly fishing on Soque River. We ordered the burger with blue cheese & bacon that was a special item on the menu . My chicken choice was very moist & flavorful along with the squash soup I chose as an appetizer. We both shared an apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream that topped off the meal. Service was attentive & setting relaxed.
We stayed at the hotel 2 nights and ate breakfast and dinner at the restaurant both days. They have a select menu but everything on there was beyond delicious. Staff was attentive and courteous. I recommend both the hotel and restaurant but if you're just looking for a place to eat definitely give it a try. It's a GEM!
Josh and crew have developed a new menu that gives you enough options of salad, entrée, and sides to satisfy all without overwhelming. As always the staff is attentive and the dessert and beverage selections varied. Dining there is always very------ relaxing !
